Or, more likely, it's just a personal preference.
The fact that the poster you are quoting plays a male miqo'te should be enough to reasonably deduce that it isn't an issue with short men in general.
After giving it much thought, the OP basically boils down to this:
And perhaps a bit more abstract, but just to highlight how absurd it sounds...There are people who like a certain aesthetic. The devs are deciding to give the option for players to make use of this aesthetic. I don't like this aesthetic, so I want the devs to not include the option to make use of this aesthetic. (Insert excuses here)(insert empathybaiting here)(insert even more appeals to emotions/fallacies here)
The "LORE!" excuse doesn't make sense. If you want male viera to not be implemented because of LORE, then we should delete male miqo as well. In fact, from what I recall off the top of my head, male miqo have even less of a reason to wander compared to male viera because viera simply have culture keeping them in the wood... male miqo have culture and biology (male births are rare).People were asking for mango vanilla. My ice cream shop decided that they're going to sell mango vanilla. I think this is a mistake. I don't think mango vanilla is a good combination and I don't want to see it every time I go to the store. Therefore, I think they should not start selling mango vanilla, and otherwise they are better off removing all vanilla-based flavours outright.
edit: everyone needs to calm down! does anyone have concern for the flavour designers and their well-being? or do you only care about what you want? seriously, the selfishness on this forum right now is astounding!
((the other edits are too much of a headache))

Also, heck, I love that they're shorter than the females of their race, and quite cute to boot. All other male races in the game look too tough/buff/thick-limbed for me. Male viera don't look like they're jacked to hell and back, so that'll be nice.
Just let people be happy that they're getting something they want. It literally doesn't detract from your enjoyment of the game if the option is there for those who want to use it, unless you are one of those kinds of people who care too much about how other people are living their lives. Like that one auntie who goes "aieeee, my neighbour married a foreigner! he looks like a ghost, I can't stand looking at him, he must leave this town!"
Also in case people missed it: this isn't FFTA, or FFXII; don't get your FF games' lores crossed.

Which makes sense in the context of the recent discussion and the major disconnect between how they're described in the game's lore compared to what the finalised design ended up looking like.
Some people like them, others do not. The same can be said of pretty much every playable race.
You say that like the women don't have a reputation for being fierce jungle warriors themselves while looking like supermodels wearing lingerie and stiletto heels. The men seem to be a perfect counterpart for that mismatch of skill and appearance. It may be a fantasy game but if we're meant to take viera men seriously as a threat then it'd be much easier to do so if they weren't running around looking like they were about to step onto a catwalk and enter a fashion show.
Especially when they supposedly live such a reclusive and harsh lifestyle.
And talking of heels – assuming their height while in racial gear is the listed height, the 5cm difference between men and women is more than made up for by the height of their shoes.

That would be the case if heels actually worked, but they don't, nevermind the fact that Viera don't have the feet they're supposed to have in XIV, which is the reason for their shoes being the way it is originally. You say that like the women don't have a reputation for being fierce jungle warriors themselves while looking like supermodels wearing lingerie and stiletto heels. I know they don't work correctly overall and a character's height doesn't change between equipping heels and flat shoes, so their lower legs grow and shrink instead.
In most cases the characters are modelled with flat/low heels to begin with, but my question is, how does that look on Viera? Not having spent time playing one, do their legs look realistically proportioned in heels and overly long in flat shoes?
If they're modelled with the intent that they're wearing heels, even if game limitations don't allow them to do it all the time, then I would consider their "model height" to include the height of their heels.
Actual clothes, yeah, but they're all still wearing the Viera stilettos instead of the flat sandals that go with the Ravel set.
