Something I'd like to share

While I wont be un-subbing I feel like this would be a good thing to say before the flame war gets too out of hand.

1. We're a community and this issue shouldn't change that.

People who are leaving due to the gender lock have every right to do so. They're not being petty or entitled. This is a service that they're paying for and if the service is not what they feel is acceptable then they have every right to take their money elsewhere.

People who are staying shouldn't be viewed as the enemy either. Yes there is a lot to be unhappy about. However many like myself still feel like there is a lot worth staying around for. Be it the shadowbringers story, new jobs, etc.

2. We should stick together and express our differences constructively

Attacking one another and belittling a persons viewpoint or grievances doesn't help anyone. You're not supporting the franchise by hurting other people. You're just being a jerk.

Same goes for anyone who think's its okay to attack those who actually got what they wanted. They're not the cause of your problems so don't make them feel guilty.

Everyone has a side and we should put it down peacefully to let the devs know why so many are unhappy and what's working and what isn't

3. We need to work out a constructive way to make our voices heard

It's pretty clear that the devs don't normally listen to the forums a lot. Especially the non Japanese ones (imo I could be wrong). But they do pay attention to numbers. Players need to assert their buying / playing power with what they do and don't agree with.

If you feel the game is beyond repair. Un-sub. It may sound callous but it's an effective wake up call to the developers that something is going wrong and they need to fix it.

If you don't like content. Don't do it. No more grudging through stuff just because it has some kind of reward locked behind it. The devs won't learn otherwise.

And finally. If there's a post that expresses your concerns in a constructive manner. Please give it a thumbs up. This will signal the developers that this opinion is widely held and will hopefully get more attention from the dev team.

Any way that's all I had to share. I'm happy for those who got what they wanted, however I'm still very hurt at how things have been going with the extreme gender bias and lack of acceptable communication with the development team. I hope we can all band together and let them know so we can start steering things in the right direction.

Agreed! Fighting is pointless. We all should support each other and the creators! They gave us fluff after all! They dangled the wolf race in our faces, then gave us fluff! They can’t be all bad, and maybe one day they will unlock the genderlocks, but for now we should be happy they are working so hard!

Good luck with getting people to be constructive. The English forums are probably the forums with the most vitriol, derogatory and unpleasent one on the forums. Pretty little wonder the English Speaking community is often ignored.

I am unhappy we don't have a healer but I don't think there is any issue with people who are thrilled at the new Dancer. I probably wouldn't have had a problem with it at all if we had at least had a healer job added. It won't be enough to get me to unsub but there is a good chance I won't heal the next expansion unless it turns out they have completely overhauled the healing system in this game. Honestly I liked WHM less after the last set of changes even though it had new abilities. Fortunately I don't really see many drawbacks in not having a healer since the trust system means I don't need to group anyway, at least to do the story.

End of the day, I am unhappy with it but I don't begrudge those who are happy. I do take issue with people who seem to take issue with me being unhappy with it and giving that feedback on these forums. Communicating with the developers is important.

While I'm not happy that it appears we are not getting another healing class and have to wait another two years. I'm glad some are happy over the dancer. What I don't like is seeing is how people are calling healers upset over this salt mages. As for the whole gender locked thing..it is understandable. That doesn't mean people are being entitled crybabies. Anyways I am all for being civil and constructive..but I am still very hurt over this.
