Damning that they waited to get back home to break the news. Made damn sure to be safe among more level headed individuals that wouldn't outright boo'd them while on stage. If BLizzcon has taught us anything, it's that trying to sell tone def, condescending, half baked, excuses, wouldn't be quietly tolerated in an american convention setting. Their cowardliness would have been exposed, their stances challenged.

I personally feel insulted by the low level graphic display the Hrothgar/ Ronso have atm... Their face looks like a rubber mask, unable to make even the most basic level facial animations... Couple this with their horrible postures and body animations... Such sloppy and obviously rushed sub par work is disgraceful. I'm used to more polish from FF series games, this looks atrocious.

I'm sure some out there will find value to them. However, atm when compared to even current player character models they look ridiculously sub par, to say nothing of their comparison against Veira models. I not only impatiently await not only both races losing the ludicrous gender locks but also the graphic fidelity raised for Hrothgar/ Roso.

To be completely honest, when i first saw Hrothgar i was repulsed. In my opinion they bring the overall presentation of the game down. How am i supposed to take seriously MSQ plot points if they should make one of those grocery store Halloween mask rejects, espouse story line or exposition? I hated Lupin for this exact reason, they made me hate the Othard points of Stormblood all the more (apart from the obvious evisceration and subsequent back burner treatment Gyr Abania was relegated to).

However, i understand that is my issue, this game is not made solely for me, and others have wanted bestial races for a long time. Regardless of my own feelings on the matter, at least SE did listen to some of their fans on that account. I will not however concede to the gender locking issue. While i never want to see the furry abominations myself, others may want to make their own female Hrothgar/ Ronso, there definitely those that want their male Viera as well. As has been said multiple times, SE has no defense in not having them included in the game. Not through Lore, not through the excuse of development time/ resources, nor the false narrative of lack of player demand. They intentionally made this hassle for themselves, to themselves. Let them fix this mess of their own making.

Square Enix, at no point, promised male Vieras.
If people got hyped over CONCEPT ART is their own fault, not the developers fault.

While it's understandable to be upset, people claiming that they're going to quit just makes them look worse.

Are people really going to blame players for expecting male Vieras when the devs didn't deny the possibility after the announcement and there's been no precedent for new races with only one gender under Yoshi-P's direction so far? In fact he was the one responsible for giving us missing genders for races who previously didn't have them.

Sorry for thinking the devs could go above the bare minimum now that their game is bigger than ever before lmao

They knew that leaks were around, saying "No male Viera." would have validated those leaks and they probably wanted Hrothgar to be a surprise. (Things got ruined because of the French Client leak before JP FanFest though.)

Could you imagine the positive hype though if they said that male viera wasn't gonna happen, but hey wait a moment! We're going to have a brand new race that's male only!" They should be course-correcting while also instilling a positive note at the end.

Also, validating leaks would still be better than what we got. The sad part is that the whole Hrothgar thing is tinged by this scandal. So instead of it being an exciting reveal--people will remember this. It'll be like how people remember Blizzcon for Diablo Immortal and not the remaster of Warcraft 3.

Every race up close looks awful, Male Au Ra especially. The lightning in the video was also pretty bad. Animations for running and sprinting are good, imo, they're less upright than Roe and they swing their arms more for a good bestial vibe, same with the posture, their legs and arms are more spaced compare to Roe.

I'm not sure I'd call this quit worthy, but then again I didn't have any intention of really switching to Viera anyways. I do agree with the OP's posting, though. Yoshida could've said last Fanfest that Viera was a female only race right out the gate. The fact that they didn't sorta set people up for the reasonable expectation that there would be male Viera. Sure, it wasn't explicitly promised, but every other race in the game has male/female variants, and Yoshida decided way back when that even though by lore male Miqo'te were rare, that shouldn't preclude them from being playable. So the logic he is going with now is pretty much the same logic he used to criticize.

As for Dancer, I'm not surprised it isn't a healer, although I was surprised they didn't add a healer job. The jobs all fit into the triad system in one way or another and play similarly, with some unique gimmick added to each for differentiation. For DNC to work as a healer, I feel like it'd need to play completely different and not like any DNC we know from FF.
