Edit: we are very lucky to have a dev team that actually listens to the fanbase. Voice your concerns politely and be patient
I'll agree with this over the Viera piece. In effect, SE is adding a new male and a new female. They've chosen to do so in a way that doesn't include males with bunny ears and more muscular females - with the latter being a particularly underrepresented demographic in Eorzea - but I really see no good reason for most of the fuss except in cases where people were specifically wanting to play a male version of a playboy bunny.

I disagree, however, in other ways - at least for now. Obviously we haven't heard everything about Shadowbringers yet, but it was foolish to announce DNC as a DPS role at this particular Fan Fest. If they don't have another Healer in the pipe, then they've really screwed up, and explicitly NOT listened to the community. If they've got a Healer under development and simply chose to announce DNC first, then they were just foolish for offering DNC footage first (and not confirming a Healer is coming in some fashion).

This also isn't the first time the developers haven't listened to the fans. They released Diadem 2.0 and Eureka while making no significant changes to the original flawed formula. They've continually resisted Glamour-related requests, such as removing role restrictions for Glamouring, despite the fact that their excuse - class identity - is patently absurd given the various pig suits and bikinis and whatnot they allow people to wear into dungeons. They routinely ignore or neglect to address class imbalances that theorycrafters identify, choosing instead to pay attention to highly deceptive statistics like how many people play each class. And this is just scratching the surface. Taking all of this into account, I don't see what else people can conclude. We try voicing our opinions politely all the time, or asking questions about them, and promptly get ignored (or given ridiculous explanations with logical inconsistencies that a 5-year-old could identify). What other method is there, at this point, besides unsubscribing?

Personally, I'm still going to give Shadowbringers a shot. I'm holding out hope that a new Healer will be a surprise announcement, and I'm also intrigued about the plot direction. As always, hope springs eternal that SE will be making better choices that ARE informed by player feedback from Stormblood, too. But my tolerance for mistakes is quite low, and I certainly wouldn't fault others for feeling similarly.
