The Kuribu in the trailer appeared to be made at least partially of stone based on the appearance of the boot, so I interpreted that as they are simply made of a stone-like substance and were mistaken for golems by later generations since Amdapor already had golems and there was no reason to believe they could be anything else. Alternatively they could have been intentionally "disguised" as golems by the Amdapor to keep the secret of their power very hush-hush. I don't think we can necessarily just accept everything we know as gospel anymore since already a significant amount of the "rules" we've been given by the lore have been bent.

Since the flood seems kinda analogous to the Rapture, and Sin Eaters analogous to angels, their purpose could very well be to spread and maintain Light. I keep on mentioning this specific one, but the Kuribu from the trailer did descend to the Derplander silhouetted by godrays, and after it was defeated night was returned to a portion of the sky. It could very well be they come into existence to quicken the Flood of Light before returning to the Lifestream. They may even be closer to Ascians than to Voidsent, at least in terms of their role and goals.

So the ShB page updated, and it seems Innocence is a being that stands at the top of the Sin Eaters:

Innocence sits at the top of the heirarchy [sic] of sin eaters─the beings that emerged from the Flood to plague what remains of mankind. Beyond that, its nature and purpose remain shrouded in mystery.

Isn't it fascinating? I watched a documentary on them in college.

no, the sineaters definitely want to reduce everything to nothing, they are embodiments of absolute order (literally everything being equal through nothingness) whereas voidsent are more chaotic and self serving in their hierarchy

what makes this wierd though is honestly if i were to characterise hydaelyn and zodiark, hydaelyn would be the avatar of chaos through life and change, and zodiark would be the avatar of order through zero sum

in either case, a flood of whatever is bad for whatever shard it happens too, the only reason the void exists is because the flood happened, but the shard was never subsequently shoved up the sources ass sideways and missed its window, what throws me off though is how old is unie if the shard supposedly fell several thousand years ago?

So, Eulmore and its surrounding regions are relatively Sin Eater free, according to the official site... Eulmore is also a den of, well... Sin... Anyone else think there might be something shady going on there? Fattening them up for the harvest, as it were...

It also mentions that Eulmore was fighting hard against them and the Flood until they spontaneously demilitarized and decided to eat grapes until the purge finishes.

I realize that it's a really common trope, especially in JRPGs, and has happened in multiple FF games, but my mind keeps going back to Barthandelus and Yusnaan from the XIII trilogy.

Same here, honestly. Light as unity and Dark as chaos is a concept thousands of years old, and XIV supports that same logic only until you get to Hydaelyn and Zodiark.

Maybe it actually is that simple, though. Maybe Hydaelyn is the avatar of chaos, and has been using the Light to counterbalance her own nature since she gained total control over the Mothercrystal. That would make Zodiark the original avatar of order, now resorting to using the Dark in order to restore the primordial one-ness. The reason they seem to contradict themselves is because both have been operating contrary to their original nature since the split.

This post has a good summation of the different types of Order vs. Chaos dichotomies that can happen.

A big difference is metaphysical Order creates many things with individual distinctions following underlying patterns or rules (eg. the behavior of elements) where philosophical Order reduces things into components of one entity.

Metaphysical Order creating a bunch of distinct entities can create philosophical chaos, while metaphysical Chaos reduces things into nothing creating the extreme of philosophical order. They're paradoxical waypoints to try to navigate, so it's best not to get those wires crossed.
The Ascians are pretty clearly trying to create the type of Choas that results in no individualism while Hydaelyn is a champion of the Order that comes from identifying and cataloguing differences.

Also, "simple" or "simplistic" is not the same thing as "Order" and "complex" or "complected" is not the same thing as "Chaos". You can have a very complicated Order in opposition to a very simplistic Chaos.

I have a hunch that Eulmore and Kholusia suffering comparatively lower Sin Eater attacks and Thancred seemingly trying to rescue Minfilia from the catacombs beneath the former in the trailer are linked together.

If I had make a guess about why that's the case:

It's safe to assume that Minfilia is the one who stopped the flood of light, but I think she may also be able to repel the Sin Eaters by extension but only the weaker ones, with the strongest of them instead seeking to eliminate her and anything else that would impede the flood (Such as the WoL/D).

Some fat cat may have noticed/reasoned that she had such a power and decided to steal her away in a moment of weakness (Perhaps immediately after she stopped the flood) to ensure the prosperity of Kholusia/Eulmore.
