Yeah, I'm aware of that, too. Stormblood has at least convinced me that the writing team has moved past using death strictly for pathos and are willing to more carefully examine the implications of survival. As long as they can continue to make it clear that these characters' lives could have had meaning and value beyond their "perfect" narrative capstone deaths, I like to think I'll manage. (I will probably still end up crying here, but hopefully they won't be angry tears this time.)
