Male Viera... Unsubbing for now.

Hrothgar was just added because there was no plans to add male Viera. Well i do recall they were making concept art, but Yoshi also said it felt awkward, so they had no real plans to add it - it's just that ppl see concept art, and then everything is set in stone as an unbreaking promise; it was "just" concept art though, so they were trying to be creative, but decided against it, for whatever reason.

Your time frame is messed up. The awkward comment came in 2013, THEN male artwork in 2015. Leaving it on that and the past promise to not gender lock again, many people are completely blindsided by this.

The devs have been content to let this speculation/hype stew until now. They could have mentioned it earlier and saved some face, or even come out and explained if these steps were taken to maximize resources for the expansion with the other genders following. They have not done so.
