This. It shouldn't make a difference. There was no precedent for this other than early issues that were already criticized and resolved. There was no good reason for them to add new genderlocked races, I'm sorry.

from a technical standpoint there is actually, It's easier to model gear for one gender and one gender only since they mentioned already that as it was the viera female model was different from the traditional models used in game. This is just me speculating however as I have no background in computer programing or engineering but I imagine it'd be a hell of a lot easier to only have to worry how a set of gear looks on one model then two since it's unlikley that viera males would have the exact same model as the female.

I agree, which makes the decision to add a whole other seperate race even more baffling to me. I don't have a background in programming either, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were merely modified male roegadyn models to save time in an attempt to compensate for the lack of male viera. I'm happy for those that wanted hrothgar, but unhappy that they believed that would take the place of male viera as some sort of "consolation prize" in any capacity.

A female Viera, long ranged dps, dancer class... No thank you, I'll pass.

Forgive me if I'm missing or forgetting something, but I'm pretty sure all they said that was different was just the ears. They had to modify headgear. Headgear is largely unisex and they should not have had too much issue carrying that over to male models. Either way, it's not like they only made female Viera. They also went through the trouble of making male Hrothgar and adjusting existing armor to fit them. I'm also not a coder, but I cannot see how creating a completely new race would have been easier than creating a male variant of an already existent female model. I have worked in 3D modeling before, and from that perspective, having to adjust armor for a completely different race with completely different features and proportions seems like much harder work to me. At best, I believe the effort put into making either a new race or a new gender variant would have been equal.
