That's not even true. The JP audience made this like... horrified gasp when they showed the slides and announced gender lock. The biggest thing we need to understand is that while our community is a big part of their revenue, their primary audience is the JP community. The decisions made will sell well to their target audience. They know that they may take some losses outside of JP but they were calculated decisions and they are prepared for the consequences. They knew what they were doing, who and where to announce what information they released. The gender lock issue was addressed in front of the JP community where they would take less blowback from such a decision. In fact, the JP community will most likely accept Yoshi's reasoning that they did it due to lore reasons.
Some folks on the JP side aren't exactly happy about the Viera announcement either and I don't know if you were watching the keynote livesteam but the audience was almost completely silent for the majority of it. I would say the audience wasn't exactly pleased by all of it either. The biggest thing we need to understand is that while our community is a big part of their revenue, their primary audience is the JP community. JP's most-played race is lalafel. They probably don't want the bara catboys any more than we do.
Consumer feedback is critical for improving any product. White knights defending flawed games permit the devs to be complacent, contributing to a game's compounding problems. You've already seen this play out with the bloating of the cash shop, the glamour situation, and the crushing pressure of inventory management. If you love a game, you need to feel free to let the devs know when they've made a mistake. White knights, on the other hand, kill good games.
Until then I guess roll an Elezen in the bunny outfit from MGP? =/

I’m going to have to agree with the op here. These decisions have been overall very disappointing. Viera, both genders of viera, was what was requested. And dancer would have been in a great spot to be the next healer. I wouldn’t say it was one specific revelation that proved the dealbreaker for me, so much as the combination of them. Each of them, in my opinion, reeks of corner cutting and unfairness and I do not have to support that.

Ah yes, elaborate for me further how much more you know about game development and resource allocation than people who've gone to school for at least 4 years in the field, and have decades of experience doing this for 8 to 12 hours a day.Well, except for the fact there was a very simple, probably cheaper option for this expansion! Only ONE(you hear it, one!) new race! They could have added both genders of Viera, then next expansion had both genders of Ronso.
Simple. Smart. Cheaper. Easier for devs.
But SE as always, is dumb.

I unsubbed, cancelled my preorder, and I refuse to play anymore until male vieras are added.

"MCH is an unplayable mess, and eureka only has TWO zones that are fun but---male viera? that's the line."
Weird.
Whoa, Eureka has two fun zones?
From what I saw, the whole concept from start to finish was a train wreck of various proportions.
Canceling my preorder over a cosmetic I was never promised in the first place BTW.
