Male Viera... Unsubbing for now.

Thank you for putting it this way. The absence of male viera is a mistake but the inclusion of gender-locked Ronso takes it further and turns it into an insult. Not how SE wants their consumers to be feeling, I think.

Just adding me voice to the "Thanks I hate it" crowd. FFXIV has made a big mistake with this one.



Everything they said is completely on-point. This is an homage? To Ronso? The Hrothgar look nothing like Ronso. They look horrible. And there were female Ronso all over FFX that looked awesome. You're way off base here.

They're called Ronso in Japan. Homages don't have to look EXACTLY like their original counterparts. That's not what homages are. They're made with the inspiration of the original in mind.

The one who is way off base is the person thinking that "homage" means direct carbon copies.

They're called Hrothgar in Japanese too. They're called "Ronso" for everyone (English, Japanese, etc) in the First world (the shard of Hydaelyn we will be going to).

Yea, I know. If the first name is such a pain to say though, they should have just stuck with one option really. People are just going to call them XIV's version of Ronso honestly, it's the lesser of two evils to say.

I'm unsubbing until male Viera are added, sorry devs. I love the game, but I have been hoping for this for a really long time (well before Viera were confirmed or hinted at coming to the game). I understand this is probably a little childish, but I'm not worried about appearing that way.

I'm happy the Ronso crowd got their race, but I'm very disappointed we've yet again taken the route of "men big manly" and "women sleek sexy". Games with genderlocking in races and classes NEVER keep my attention. Black Desert looks great, for example, but my favorite classes are female only so I just can't bring myself to play it.

Unfortunately, between BLU, no male Viera, and (so far) no healer... I'm just really let down.

Please consider bringing us male Viera very soon.

I too love this game and have played since the beginning of 2014. However I will not support a gender locked game. To me, it ruins the immersion and culture of the game. Not my thing. If I wanted to play gender-locked games, I'd play FTP Korean MMO's. I'm also unsubbing myself. Maybe in the future I will return when they add male/female to all races. Also, no new healer job has turned me off. Seems SE Is out of touch with it's player base.

I too love this game and have played since 2014. However, I refuse to support a gender-locked game. It's not progressive, it sets negative stereotypes and it's not the type of game culture I enjoy.

Sure there's a lot of salt and overreaction and I won't be unsubbing anytime soon, but the decision is baffling.

Male Viera was a chance to get a little creative, add something new to the game and definitely fan requested. Then they'd have had Hrothgar or Ronso (both genders) as something to keep in the bag for the expansion after. Less salt, most players happy. I can't see what they gain from this. I've never seen a "please add male Hrothgar" request in the forums or ingame in... well, forever. What's the benefit of the genderlock?
