So sounds like he wants to hear the negative opinions, even from the ones willing to unsubscribe.

Of course they do, its valuable information to any company as they can assess the options they can take to retain or bring back said players. Like Yoshida said in a GDC, a complaint is worth twice that of a compliment because it shows they still care. Square Enix would rather have people make threads about unsubbing and stating why than unsubbing in silence with no kind of feedback to work with.

The question is, are those saying they're unsubbing actually doing so? Because if they're not, they're giving SE a different kind of feedback, which is "we just say things that we don't do when we're upset". And as a wise man once said:

Put your money where your mouth (or typing hands for this matter) is. Do it, unsub, don't just talk about it.

OP, you're absolutely childish. Don't you know how unbelievably hard it is to add anything to this game is especially new races? Be thankful there are two new races added to the game, gender locking isn't that big of a deal considering you probably play the opposite gender in a lot of other games because there's no choice in the matter. The overhead to add a counter gender is astronomical because clothes aren't fluid materials like in modern games. They legitimately have to adjust over 10,000 armor pieces for both male and female to support it. That's 6 years of updates to go back and fix.

Yoshi P. stated that it's not a high priority right now because they have to focus on other parts of the expansion. I can imagine it costing an enormous amount of money to do. He also stated that having the other gender to be something they are considering for the future once they have streamlined development after shadowbringer's release.

They will not release male viera for quite some time if ever, so you're only punishing yourself for this because you're one of the few who's complaining. But who am I kidding? They will not notice a dozen or so users who are genuinely upset to the point of unsubscribing because WoW refugees are taking their spot very quickly.

Please consider the fact that development costs are really high when adding new races, and remember that it is something new that people have a choice to use and it's not the end of the world if they don't add opposite genders. People are saying "they shouldn't have added a new race if they gender locked it" but then they wouldn't have added a new race for the majority who want to play as a female Viera? That's punishing a wide majority of players.

It's only a cosmetic, nothing more, nothing less. I'd rather they spend 3 months worth of budget on adding a lot of new content than seeing them waste time on the opposite gender to appease the <0.00001%

Its posts like this that frustrate me to no end, regardless of the topic. You make sweeping generalizations and assumptions without any data to back up the claims you are making. How do you know the proportion of players unhappy about gender locked races is a small vocal minority? Quiet frankly there is no way for you, or anyone else, to know for certain. Are people overreacting? That is a matter of opinion. And if these forums any indication, everyone has an opinion they think is the right opinion to have.

Well, by simply comparing the numbers you'll find that this forums active users actually only represents a tiny number of people who play this game. Given how easy it's said to get banned here that number excludes many who still sub and also want to be vocal about things regarding the game.

Every other high traffic place I go to discuss this game has moved on to talking about other things. Here? Its non stop threads echoing about male Viera by, again, a vocal minority.

The vast majority of people are mostly apathetic to it.

Reddit and Twitter beg to differ in regards to the amount of attention this topic is getting but you are right they only represent portions of the community and not the whole though selective bias will always bring people to forums where their opinion is favored or has a decent amount arguing in favor of it. The thing with the OF though is that the Dev's will listen to this section of the community more as its their dedicated forum for all things feedback related. Not to say they don't look at other regions of the internet but it'd be foolish to assume they'd ignore such a heavily contested topic that has gather higher than normal "Likes" when compared to other threads that have maintained a long presence on the forums proper.

Making such a claim would require the empirical data to back up this claim as well. At best we can speculate going off the average response among all popular online gatherings related to the game's community. As it stands for the Official Forums the topic has created a thread that has more responses and likes, like 1.4k, than your average thread in a relatively short amount of time outpacing those that stay up for months with only 200-300 likes. Obviously the commotion has created enough fuzz to warrant an uncommon amount of OF visitors to actually respond in some manner when compared to normal traffic.

Question, are you saying from your personal perspective SE made a mistake trying to please the most amount of people by offering two different races that fit different wants from the community?

Nope, i'm saying that this is not a game for me anymore. If SE made a mistake, only time will tell.

You did say gender lock or anything that break all possibility of player identity is a deal breaker for you, so you are saying from your personal perspective SE has made a mistake trying to please two different community requests. Since assuming they have already lost you as a player, so you must personally feel their choice was a mistake.
