I actually unsubbed earlier today. I have played this since 1.0 and its by far my favorite game, but I just dont like the direction they are going with this expansion and decision.

We've already been down this road before. There were originally three genderlocked races. People voiced their opinions, and we got female Roes, female Highlanders and male Miqo'tes.
The devs said they were done with gender locks. and yet here we are....again...

I honestly will look for any hope to resub, I WANT to play this game. But I just cant agree with this. All it would take is a dev response about time constraints, or some explanation as to why they pulled this.

In the meantime, their silence has been noted.

Which they don't want to do, cause lore-wise Viera is a female-only-warrior-society, like Amazones. Just the fact that they added 2 new races, at all, is rather monumental.
Also the devs don't sit around on forum, commenting on posts like you or I lol. so what do you expect? for Yoshi to post a letter, commenting about every decision he makes?
I'm sure they will get plenty of questions about it, during next live letter, and he might talk about it there.

Unfortunately the company brought this upon themselves, This could have been the Viera expansion with the next being Ronso. They instead decided to shoehorn this together by giving us one half of two races and now we're back to 1.0.

Which they don't want to do, cause lore-wise Viera is a female-only-warrior-society, like Amazones.

... Did you skip everything that was said in the Ivalician Raids? Cuz you're making it sound like it came out of nowhere. It didn't... people just refused to aknowledge it because they REALLY wanted male bunnies.

I've seen some really interesting mental gymnastics in these forums as of late.

Viera expansion? that sounds very dramatic for a fan-service race; not sure about their relevance in ShB, but they only had relevance in 24man raid quest-line, in SB.
It's understandable that ppl are bothered, after being teased with male concept art, but they decided against it, for whatever reason; probably lore, time, money (always money) and how many people might potentially be interested.
I doubt we'll ever get male viera, and if they do add them, it will just take away from other content; as i said, they'd need to rework all pieces of gear, and break the lore too.
I'd rather they focus on actual content, than spend resources on remodelling all equipment for male viera and female hrothgar.
Funny enough, it would have been better if they have added neither Viera nor Hrothgar at all.
But realistically i think it's better if ppl stop hoping for it, cause it's most probable you'll get more disappointed.
I won't be happy or sad either way - good for everyone who wants it, if they do, but the current state should be a clear indication of their plans, is it not?
