Races in this game are nothing but visuals. Games like Tera have a problem because they lock classes behind race/gender, this game doesn't have that problem. Look at Au'ra males and females, they are so different that having Hrothgar/Viera is almost equivalent. Doing races this way allows for more diversity. The only thing causing salt is the player expectation and assumption, there is no actual problem on the devs part.

Personally I like the fact we're getting two different races as opposed to only one with a male and female option. The new beast race should give the game quite a bit of racial flavor in my opinion. Perhaps they'll add opposite genders later but they seemed to be pretty clear these would be the last new races we're getting.

I was pretty disappointed we didn't get a new race in Stormblood.

while i don't plan on changing race, even if we had male viera, it's the message SE sent that i really don't like, it keeps repeating the stereotype that females should be sexy and males should be powerful, and i'm not sure i want to play in a fantasy world with that kind of outdated and sexist rules. :/
this game has been praised many times for its equality in armor for both genders, praised also for adding male miqotes and fem roes a good while back, i can't believe they're doing all of this all over again.
