I'll be seeing you unsubbers on June 28!
Have a fun trying to play through the trash piles of MMOs on the market and coming back here after realizing how much of a quality effort is put into this game.

Sure there's a lot of salt and overreaction and I won't be unsubbing anytime soon, but the decision is baffling.
Male Viera was a chance to get a little creative, add something new to the game and definitely fan requested. Then they'd have had Hrothgar or Ronso (both genders) as something to keep in the bag for the expansion after. Less salt, most players happy. I can't see what they gain from this. I've never seen a "please add male Hrothgar" request in the forums or ingame in... well, forever. What's the benefit of the genderlock?

So there are rational people on the Official Forums! I would have loved both genders but this outrage is a bit much. Then again, not sure what I expected. This literally happens every time anything is announced.Sure there's a lot of salt and overreaction and I won't be unsubbing anytime soon, but the decision is baffling.

This is hilarious tbh, people getting upset about a female and male only race smh.
And no i don't plan on using a fantasia anytime soon and neither do i care about changing the race of my character, Dancer looks nice and phys ranged needed some love too.
Hope for you healers that they are gonna announce a healer sometime this fanfest, if not it's a big feelsbadman for healer people.
I just care about content.
I won't be unsubbing, I'm not salty nor angry about their design decisions for the expansion as far as the jobs and gender locked races. I'm more surprised than anything else, it's certainly not the direction I would have expected from Yoshida and his team to say the least! Given the audience for this game I fully expected male viera to be announced with a healer job and possibly another dps to make three jobs for the expansion.
There's always the off chance of some surprise announcements to happen during the fanfest, but until then I'm going to sit here being puzzled and more than a little confused.

While I understand that people are upset, I think it's silly to get this upset that you would unsub over Viera getting gender-locked. It's one race there are so many options in the game, I myself would have loved to have the small cute versions. But, I wouldn't unsub over not having it, we can't expect to have all our wants and desires to be added to the game.
Just a simple bard with simple dreams.

The biggest thing we need to understand is that while our community is a big part of their revenue, their primary audience is the JP community. The decisions made will sell well to their target audience. They know that they may take some losses outside of JP but they were calculated decisions and they are prepared for the consequences. They knew what they were doing, who and where to announce what information they released. The gender lock issue was addressed in front of the JP community where they would take less blowback from such a decision. In fact, the JP community will most likely accept Yoshi's reasoning that they did it due to lore reasons.

That's not even true. The JP audience made this like... horrified gasp when they showed the slides and announced gender lock. The biggest thing we need to understand is that while our community is a big part of their revenue, their primary audience is the JP community. Some folks on the JP side aren't exactly happy about the Viera announcement either and I don't know if you were watching the keynote livesteam but the audience was almost completely silent for the majority of it. I would say the audience wasn't exactly pleased by all of it either. The biggest thing we need to understand is that while our community is a big part of their revenue, their primary audience is the JP community.
