What will a 3rd ranged dps do that the other 2 don't already do ?
Ah no excuse me, not 2 but 1, MCH is not even played.
You don't know what your talking about. You probably never healed before, or rarely do... You're getting to have 10 DPS and we only have 3 healers, end of story. I don't care what you to make up to make it seem this isn't the case...We don't need another DPS you have 9! I really hope and pray your dps ques are insanely long..We don't need a new healer. You people just want one. Anyone who thinks we legitimately need a new healer was probably a shit healer anyway.
What would a 4th healer actually do that the other 3 can't do already?
And DPS is a term that describes 3 different roles. NA seems to be the only section of the community that doesn't seem to understand that.
No direct heals eh... boy, raid wide airs are gonna suck. Yeah no, that would never work. Maybe in party finder, it will be worth it if utility is good enough to justify running it over astro. But otherwise, no. Itll especially be garbage in in PUGs since the lack of direct heals would make it terrible in dungeons and the risk of getting 2 of them in a trial/raid would be a nightmare.Well my personal contribution would be a healer that doesn't have any direct heals (except for maybe one ogcd direct heal), and only works with regens, shields, and more raid utility than all 3 healers combined. Make it a difficult class to play, but more valuable to everyone due to raid utility.
Personally I think this would work if they made Dancer both DPS and Healer, depending on which stance you choose before you que.
There you go.
EDIT I'm also sure the SE dev team can come up with much better ideas, too. I'm just disappointed we didn't get anything. They can create a new unique healer job.
But you are the first person to legitimately try to make a suggestion and I respect that.
You could make a raid-wide shield aoe, plus a raid-wide regen aoeNo direct heals eh... boy, raid wide airs are gonna suck. Yeah no, that would never work. I think it could work with enough thought put into it.
But if the regents could heal the raid as quickly as direct healing, wouldn't that be a bit broken? What you're suggesting would either be absolutely terrible or completely invalidate the other healers if it were in any way viable.
If you want a class with lots of raid utility.... that's honestly what RDPS is supposed to be. But it was so poorly implemented in Stormblood that RDPS (aka the BRD role) is only really viable because of dragoon. I'm honestly astonished at how few people understand this. Just look at their role actions.

I think they’re saving them for much later announcement.
Considering AST is just WHM and SCH slapdashed together with a gimmick? Designing healers in this game is actually egregiously difficult in due to how it's designed. For example, the slow GCD and the heavily scripted nature of fights involving burst damage would never let a HoT based healer work. Or a healer that channels spells over time wouldn't work because you should be spending GCDs on DPS and maximizing OGCD usage for healing. The only thing that -might- be workable is a melee healer, and even then the actual difference would be negligible in due to the overarching game design. Again.
Sucks for people who wanted a healer, I totally get why you're disappointed, but it's just extremely hard to actually work with making a new one. For what it's worth, I'm horribly concerned with how Gunbreaker is going to play seeing as SE had the 'brilliant' idea of giving every tank fell cleave in 4.X.
Yeah, healing needs to be completely reworked in order for a new healer to be worth it. Youd need to limit the other 3 to actually make space for a 4th healer. My concern there, however, is that it would feel kinda cheap. Chopping bits off of existing healers to make a "new" healer class just to satisfy the fanbase would be pretty disappointing.Considering AST is just WHM and SCH slapdashed together with a gimmick? As for gunbreaker...idk, maybe they can apply debuffs?

Great community btw

Right because everyone's just complaining to complain, NOT because everything you just listed was half assed in some way , God forbid people expect some sort of quality when they ask for something , don't even care about the races but what lol people wanted blue Mage as an actual job but we got "that" instead but Na it's just complaining for the sake of complainingYou people are never happy.
You whine all races look human-like, you whine all races are cute, feminine and oh-so-adorable. You complain and complain and complain.
It's just like when blue mage was finally introduced. Just moaning over and over.
Everyone wanted a viera, and they still be whining.
Everyone wanted a beast race and they still be whining.
You can play more than one game you know? Go play some graphics novel about bunny boys if it's the only thing that gets your rocks off.
I don't even know anymore.
