I think it's funny when Chad comes down from the trees to mate and finds an empty village as all the females are off in Limsa dancing naked.

Pardon me for intrusion, but Viera 1st appearance is 2003 and Miqo'te, technically, 2002. Yes, Mithra and Miqo'te aren't the completely same race, but still Miqo'te are based on them (same as Roe based on Galka) so technically our pre-race was born even earlier than Viera.
Hmm, don't know if we count the Mithra/Galka though, even if they were 'there' the idea that was actual Mi'qote came after - they're different enough that they're not the same race and more of an ancestor of said race. Do Mithra even exist anymore in FF14?Pardon me for intrusion, but Viera 1st appearance is 2003 and Miqo'te, technically, 2002. Mithra Minion in game states that there is speculation among scholars in Eorzea that Mithra were likely the ancestor of Miqo'te.
Lore purists telling Square Enix they have to keep the original lore intact of content reimagined in later games don't get the point of the FF series. Reimagining stories, places, magic, races, and characters is part of the charm of Final Fantasy.
ummm, lots of anime were altered to suit a western audience in the past..... particularly if you look at 90s childrens' television. That's like saying they should make changes to popular anime or other games, due to their western audience. They don't. The only section of our culture that is ever monitored really, is Nintendo of America censoring and redoing things to fit western culture. But again, they are a western company, the home company gives no hoots, no matter who purchases/uses the products.

after the debacle with fire emblem fates, xenoblade x, the fire emblem/smt crossover game they really went back and amended their localization processes.
https://slator.com/features/japanese...calized-games/ this article mentions that they have localization people fly over to HQ to look over games for localization, as they're in development, compared to how traditionally games were localized long after their original japanese release
I don't mind censorship if it's to stamp out the very creepy stuff involving characters that are pretty clearly designed to look as young as possible. I'm not a fan of things being censored based on 'feelings' or 'potential to offend', though. Realistic characters are as flawed as regular people and may very well do or say things that aren't perfect.
Unfortunately we're in an era where a character doing or saying something deemed 'problematic' is often cause for their actions and behaviour to be altered for fear of offending someone, somewhere.
I heard that Haurchefant's flirtation and creepier elements were both significantly toned down in the English version of the game compared to the Japanese version.
When did Haurchefant flirt with us?
