I'll admit I was pretty irritated by how the developers handled things and that the early showcases of Hrothgar left a lot to be desired. I've never had an issue with those people who want Hrothgar - except for those people who don't want male Viera to be added out of sheer spite.

Nonetheless, I am not impressed by how SE went about it. Not necessarily Yoshi-P's fault but the overall approach was a case of rather bad communication. Had they been upfront, as they later were in the letter by Yoshi-P to the community concerning the topic, it would have at least made things better.

I should add I don't particularly care for identity politics (I consider the whole enterprise pretty intellectually bankrupt), and I thought taking that angle in dealing with them was fruitless and in some cases, it just led to baseless accusations towards them as well as being disrespectful.

Finally out of the dungeon. Alright let me put it this way.

The Male Viera supporters left a BIG lasting impression when it was revealed that we were getting Hrothgar, and that impression wasn't a positive one at all. That's how others see the Viera supporters. So don't go trying to scapegoat the Hrothgar for those actions. That's why people don't see the Mviera supporters in a positive light at all. I do hope that Male Viera and Female Hrothgar get added but I'm not going to stay quiet if I see some garbage.

I'm not going through this whole thread but the first page doesn't explain in any way why I should support this.

I don't care either way if there are genderlocked Races or not. This thread isn't giving me any reason to support your request because it all just seems like people whining that SE isn't giving them what they want. Not really something I want to support.

If there is an actual reason why this should be added, or why its important, I'd love to hear it and then I can actually see if I will support it. But right now I see no reason why I, or anyone else who doesn't care about Genderlocked Races, should support this idea.

The reason is that we consider we would derive value from the addition of this option, much like this player is deriving value from the existence of female Highlanders.

Whether they want to throw their support behind it or not is their choice. There is no "strong-arming" involved. It is more to do with relating our rationale for wanting the race to something they can perhaps understand.

Don't really see it in Twitter either. Even if there are people like this, they are maybe 1 or 2 out of 100. But as always people will judge all people based on 2-3 personalities. Nothing new, it's always like this.

Hi you were in my thread as well. Again I'm surprised you don't care about gender locked races. When you play a female Highlander. Which didn't exist in 1.0. If it wern't for people saying "hey we don't like gender locked races" you would never get to play your current race. Think of others and try putting yourself in there shoes.

No, she's simply been given the response that she should reflect on why she plays female Highlander so as to see the reasons for which others might want mViera.

Talk is cheap, in the end. It's easy to say "x being removed wouldn't bother me" to try gainsay an argument, but in the end she is playing a female Highlander and ipso facto derives value from the option being available.

I don't consider her to be a bigot. I just think that coming into a thread and claiming it's all "whining" isn't the most constructive way to try and engage those making the request for mViera to be added, particularly after having stated they did not read the thread beyond p1. Fair enough, it's a big thread, but then why approach it in such bad faith?

To answer her question, there's a variety of reasons we want Viera to be playable. Many of us don't play characters the size of Roegadyn, enjoyed the concept art they released for HW for the males, and would like to see what the elusive male Viera look like. So it's partly about player options, partly about seeing more of the world. We want them for the same reason people wanted female Viera or a bestial race - they provide another option.

Yeah well, Hroth may look cool, but I still think they were a poor replacement for male Viera. But you know what, those wanting a beast like race got what they wanted. So there is no reason for people to be putting this thread under ridiculous standards and trying to deny us requesting male Viera. There is literally nothing wrong with us asking for the missing genders of both the new races.

Technically, the Viera were the replacement of female Hrothgar, if past interviews imply anything.
