(Just wanted to point out that there has been stuff for example the housing timer where they told us that we will never get one, only to do it anyway. So they are not evil just human, but that also means that they can be wrong too.)

Anyway I wonder if they will say anything on the liveletter at all or if that was it. I just hope that if they dont state anything about the missing genders that they at least talk about the restrictions...especially the missing hair for female Viera and male Hrothgar.

Yes, people posting that they don't like seeing the number 600+ pages are just ghosts in my eyes, not worthy of any kind of reply.

As for the new revelation about female Viera and how incomplete they are and will continue to be, this is just more proof that Yoshida is losing touch with the playerbase. I don't know if the shareholders were the ones that forced him to attract Elders Scrolls/WoW players who prefer beastial races but this is really backfiring on them. Both races are looking very lazy and very incomplete. And this is NOT a case of "there's so m uch gear to add," this has nothing to do with gear and everything to do with how difficult it is to create a beastial race. Look at how low quality and how many times they had to redesign Hrothgar, you can tell they were having trouble creating them. They even admitted back in the day that adding beastial races is hard to do.

They really messed up both races, but Viera moreso, because of this decision to add 2 really different races at the same time. I honestly would've preferred if they just made the race that they really wanted to make, the Hrothgar and made both genders for them. When you go against what you want you usually mess up, it seems to them adding Viera wasn't something they wanted and more of a chore to do so.

In ending, I'll say this, this bodes very badly for adding male Viera since they still haven't even finished Viera/Hrothgar. And even if they decide to add them they'll run into the same problem where female Hrothgar will take so many design drafts and so many 3D drafts and time spent creating them that it'll extend the normal time it would take to create "human" races. Right now I only see male Viera (and female Hrothgar) in 6.0 or really never. We're officially back to the genderlock/limited races era of mmorpgs.

Care to link the interview? If Hrothgar hairstyles are linked to faces I'd hope they can at least swap between the hairstyles from the same face in the aesthetician. Viera are more odd in the aspect since their hair doesn't really... seem to conflict with the ears.

My guess is they're trying to be impartial. Viera are not much different than Miqo or Au Ra in that regard, so fixing their heads to use other hairstyles could be as easy as snapping their fingers, but because they're somewhat linked to Hrothgar doing so would seem blatantly biased.

I mean, yes - Hroths have a beastly face, but the rest of their head under the manes seems "normal", so at least some of the universal hairstyles could've worked on them. This makes me think the devs simply went for fur pattern customization instead because....it's different I guess?

From the interview, I'm glad that at least Viera will have some "unlockable hairstyles" which can mean the PvP/Mog Station/MGP ones. It'd be pretty sucky if you spent all that MGP/Seals/Real Money only to be unable to use them (although, it doesn't seem like Hroths will, so THAT sucks...).

I'm still optimistic but more wary <.<

Since Hrothgar have hairstyles tied to their character creation options rather than being separately selectable, you will not be able to apply unlockable hairstyles, but they might implement more face types after 5.0. As for Viera, there's some legacy haristyles they'll able to eventually implement, but not all of them. Some of unlockable hairstyles should be supported, others may not be.
