Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

I personally wasn't interested in playing either of the new races (lalafell master race), but the news that we weren't getting male viera or female hrothgar when so many people want them included in the game is heartbreaking to me.

I don't need them in 5.0, but if they'd even just confirm that they want to introduce them in 6.0 or so I think everyone would feel so much better!

I also hope SE reconsiders the decision on genderlocking male Viera. True, male viera has never been seen before. This is why if would be a great and bold move! To show male Viera in FFXIV is something never seen before! It would really make players happy, as evident in this thread. Ever since I played FFXII as a young boy, I have wanted to see male Viera. Having it not added, especially after seeing the lore for it in game, was heartbreaking. I have never changed from male Miqo'te, but male Viera would change that in an instant! I loved the concept art!

Just adding my voice in support here. Single-gender races is really just a bad look, and something I frankly associate with lesser MMORPGs. I complain only because I've come to expect better from FF14.

Hello! Gender-locking is lame and archaic, as well as nonsensical in this case; even if we cite lore reasons for not including male Viera, we have to think back on the supposed lore for Miqo'te and Roegadyn as well, and think back to the time when a gender-lock was previously attempted and how poorly it'd gone before. Gender-locks are non-inclusive, and this move was a complete disappointment to the community.

Viera need to have high heels for the majority of their foot armor. Please don't tell me after genderlocking races they're also going to ruin their traditional feet.

I don't believe they actually need the high heels on account of how their foot anatomy is shaped in XIV. But it'd be nice if they added the heels as part of the set.

Really, I think the last one would be the closest to offering something that fits the "bishonen" look but is still masculine, and aligned to female viera.

Yoshi, in no uncertain terms, said that this was a decision based solely on the lack of resources to develop male and female versions of both races.
People here don't understand that the FF14 dev team is undermanned and that the game code (the sam from 1.0) is literally held together with duct tape.

If devs are reading this, I just wanted to say I understand your decisions, I know you have to cut corners, I know SE funnels FF14 staff and money into other games constantly. I know there's a shortage of mmo devs in Japan. I know the devs are probably at their wits' end trying to finish the content in time, I know Soken sleeps in his office for days to meet the deadlines, I had enough attentiveness when listening to Yoshi to hear him say ''we'll barely finish the expansion in time for release'', ''I approved the music only a day before the fanfest'', ''we finished the trailer a day before the fanfest''.

I truly love you for your work and I completely understand why adding 2 genders of 2 new races along with 2 new jobs is hard. I hope you aren't disheartened by the people whining, I hope you are not angry when they call you lazy, because I know you're giving it all you've got. And I literally couldn't care less if you add a male viera, I will be rolling a Ronso MNK and I will love it.

I'm all for adding male Viera - can they have flappy ears? :P Genderlocking never made much sense in a game, Miqo and Roe got their counterparts too - let Viera and Hrothgar get theirs too.

Personally, i don't care for male viera, i probably won't play as one, just the same for female hrothgar, but i do care a lot for diversity and things making sense.
So:
- Gender-locking things is biologically stupid for humanoid-like creatures.
- Lore-wise male Viera exist, they are just very secretive. (there's even a male appearance in FF tactics).
- Hrothgar are pretty much just Ronso, or very similar, and they do have females. They reason they probably didn't name them Ronso was so they could apply the gender-lock....stupid 2.0.
- I can't forget the thousands of times people have said in the past that gender locking this is bad for a MMO, for a gigantic number of reasons, why you go down this path.
- i can keep giving reasons...

Gender locking is stupid, illogical, outdated.
I came back to the game because they're releasing one of my favorite aspects of the FF universe: Gunbreaker (and tanks even!!), i can't imagine how the people that were looking up to play as Male Viera are feeling.
