I really like that version of mViera as well. He's still masculine while not being a wall of muscles like Roe or Hroth. And to me at least, I would say that is an elegant face. I could see the mViera in that artwork being a dancer easily.
Also inb4 "Why you hate Roe/Hroth?" I don't. They're both excellent options for people who want that body type for their character. I just don't think that body type suits mViera.

Yes I also love that one. Between this or the omega type fanart a few pages back I would be quite happy with how they turned out. If we had a great character creator we could have had both of those with a muscle or body slider but since we dont I would be fine with either of that or something in between, because they still look like they belong to the females.
Please dont call the opinion of someone wanting it to be a certain way "hijacking an entire race"...they are giving their view on things and most of them never said that they want x or otherwise they dont want Viera. They just write what they want and should be allowed to do so. I dont want a feminine one either but I see no problem with people posting it. No need to take them down or make them look bad with such words. If you are allowed to post your view on how they look then others are too, even if the chance of that happening is barely there. (But that also means that posting this would not hurt you at all)
As a real life female I would say: Why not? In real life you dont always have just manly man and girly woman. You will have girls that may look much more masculine and men that look more softer. Some will surely jump with joy when SE will lessen the amount of gender restricted gear in the future and women will run around in clothing for men and men in clothing for women.
That really depends. If someone posts art and they say: That is not my taste, then that is fine. (I am honestly just someone that does not answer such art anyway because I want to let people have their view on things like that) But if you post a fanart and someone says that this is creepy, then yes they are kinda hinting imo that liking something like that is creepy.

I understand where they're coming from honestly. Well, it's unfair to say they're highjacking because it's just their opinion - but it gets to a point in where it's brushing dangerously close to being so far from the devs vision and the lore that it can be considered a highjack. Like, there's no other word for it I suppose?
Yoshida wants elegant and handsome, Viera males. Handsome has long since been attributed to masculinity. You don't call a feminine guy handsome; you call him cute or pretty. You don't call a beautiful woman, handsome. If the developer wants them to be handsome, then they will be just that, handsome in terms of masculinity. Elegance doesn't = femininity either, so that's off the table. Elezen moves with elegance - all red mages fight with elegance. An assassin who is trained to waste no movement than what is needed moves with elegance. This is the image painted. Now let's talk about Matsuno's vision, where they are muscular like a boxer - with zero body fat. Yes, they won't be extremely buff - but I have a feeling people have different views when it comes to muscular. All you need to do is look back at all of final fantasy and look at the muscular males there; there's plenty to see. Imagine cloud strife, but the muscles are more defined. Midlander body type is a lot more likely, just taller with more muscle. Even if they have Omega M's body type; people need to remember that they're still going to be ripped by default.
Anyway, the point I'm making is that if you want a male Viera that isn't handsome and has no muscle development then yes, you're not supporting the devs at all. If you want a male Viera to look soft and have a sheltered life, then you're straying from the imagery put forward. Male Viera aren't cute, they're not kawaii and there honestly shouldn't be any reason for them to look extremely feminine. Their life is a sad tale of being ripped from their communities, trained to kill and survive - thrown to the wolves where most die in the final test and then only seeing another person again when they have to kill them - regardless of why that person is there, in cold blood - or to mate. And when that's done, and only then do they have the opportunity to not be lonely stoic striders by taking an apprentice. Nothing about this screams cute, feminine or the likes. It's a hard life. Any femininity they may have would be warped by scars, facial hair, grime and blood.
You could be described as highjacking a race if you're taking it extremely far from what is being envisioned by both the devs and the lore. I don't know; maybe I look too much into this as a writer. But man, I'd be disappointed if they ended up looking overly feminine. Even if I know that most who want this won't be considering the lore - and have their own RP headcanon where they wouldn't have gone through any of these hardships. Ones headcanon shouldn't trump that of the Devs or beyond what the lore allows - that goes both ways. Thankfully male Viera can leave the wood with lore that has been given to us. If it's to protect the wood, they can leave. This includes hunting down those who are a threat to the wood. Males actually leave the wood to do this, you just don't see them.
As a side note; we're fortunate that male Viera doesn't have to suffer what happened to female Aura. I'm pretty sure they get snubbed because of the two clans, and one of them being dainty in the description of lore and how most of them are princess wifus, priestesses and housewives. They didn't want to make another model just for female au'ra.

Agreed. I'm not insulting anyone for their preferences, I just don't care for such aesthetics myself and if given the choice would pass on them. I've compromised by stating that I'm fine with viera men being designed in such a way as to have an option for an androgynous/feminine face for those who like it. I just don't want that to be the standard design choice for all of their faces.
Yes, around same height as Elezen men; somewhere around Au Ra or Highlander for the build (although Elezen would not bother me hugely, if they went for that); and a good selection of faces, with handsome and masculine features, and the "softer" option. If you give them a slider that allows quite a wide range for height, like roegadames get and a muscle tone slider, plus fluid animations, I think it'll resolve the majority of disputes over their form. It's more that there's certain red lines where the race would become unplayable, for me, as I assume there are for other people. That will happen whatever SE does, in the end, and I am sure they know it, as it applies to just about every race.
Yeah, I'd be very pleased with something like that.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:
To be honest, this whole thread is highly...unstable. You can look it up, and have a bunch of posts agreeing Omega's body type is perfect, come back 10 pages later, and now something like Gladio is the one people are agreeing on, another 10 later, and we have not-Miqo'te...The only thing that stays consistent is they're tall.
Well thats the nature of being individuals. We all have different views on what we want. Heck ask people that work for SE and they will probably also give differen opinions or variations. Its fine with different views on how they look and its fine to say that you dont like that and would like x instead. But calling something creepy, fetish, and more is just bad. Or mocking certain posters.
When you come to this thread to only make a post about a person then maybe one should stop and think if they would want that to happen to them and maybe not do that.
Lets all just try to be civil without taking someones opinion down or state something as fact that is not there anyway and it should be fine. I think most of us that want male Vieras do not want this thread to be locked.
