The point is that the idea is to please as many people as possible.

And yet there is no evidence that the gender-lock will achieve this, or that male Hrothgar would out number male Viera. In fact, existing player race stats show quite the opposite tendency with regard to such character builds. Such characters are a minority even in those MMOs which choose to include them, and do so with a pre-existing lore background.

I hate Viera and have no interest, and was so sad when they said no new race after 5.0. now with Hrothgar I'm a lot more happy with the race diversity and choices that players have. Male viera and female Hrothgar would be welcome and there's no problem asking for it, but don't pretend like their absence is problematic.

There's nothing to pretend about - people have a problem with it.

You might also find that if you try to justify this on the basis of "resource limitations", people may be a little deaf about it following some announcements yesterday where SE is diverting some of its funds.

To be clear, the issue is the gender lock itself. It's the reason why this is perceived as Hrothgar coming at the expense of male Viera. They did not say anything to suggest the situation may change, either, thus the concerns on the matter.

Someone is always going to be upset. If it was male/female Viera, we would have people complaining about SE pandering and that this is end of XIV.

People are complaining about just that anyway.

When company gives a promise to never do a genderlocked race ever again because they considered it as bad move in 1.0 and then they do exactly this again - people have the full right to be angry about this. Actually, I highly suspect that the whole thing about asking for Vieras was a lot about the fact that there was a high chance to take a complete race, though I can be wrong about this. Personally I would prefer to not have new race at all than have this stepback, but this is my opinion and I always was higly negative about genderlock in any games, so I can't say for all.

More than that, according to population of Highlanders and Roes poor Hrothgars most likely will be even less popular. People who are excited about them are mostly FF10 fans who want to create Kimahri in FF14, which is not bad of course and I am happy for them, but outside of this Hrothgars barely will be played, unfortunately. Will be good if it will be opposite but it's somehow doubtful. So pleasing as much people as possible doesn't look like a thing here.

Viera aren't my cup of tea, but I support people getting their bunnymen (and lionwomen). Let them play what they want.

Any reason is valid reason to stop paying for something, its hard to say how important some things are to others. And why something is so important to some and not others Things like this are close to a make or break for me, much higher than a new class.
Its not that its the only thing, but its very high on my list. And if it was not that i had such high regard for the team, and SE for the game as a whole this could have pushed me away enough.

I was only expressing my opinion, but you are right too. Only I am sorry that for this disappointment, for what is large and justified, some do not even see the positive sides. But as you said everyone has their reasons.

Thats a 6-7 year old promise, and was said around the same time as "FC housing is exclusive, player housing will be separate", "we will never have housing demolition", "we will never have cash shop" etc.

It was a different time where Yoshi P wasn't as experienced and said things he couldn't live up to. You will notice he is a lot more careful in his wording now. Considering how many of those promises are false, all of them are pretty invalid in the current state of the game

Maybe in the future they will come out. Will just have to wait and see. Hopefully people won't attack Yoshi at every Q&A with this, but it will probably happen,

If they had made the decision to not include male vieras why should they change that without feedback in the future? The only way to show them that they are wanted is to post alot about this and to ask him about this all the time. Thats probably even the only reason we got the male bunny suit. Of course all of this without any personal attacks.

A lot of the broken promises regarding housing were born out of technical and infrastructure complications. They're incomparable to a management decision to make one full race or two half races.

Also, and this isn't aimed specifically at you, it's interesting to see you say that when some of the defenses people bring about BLU and the Viera gender lock are from interviews that are years old as well.
