If you have no stake in this, then coming in and slapping down peoples own opinions in the manner your doing is uncalled for. Havent seen anyone here say "Yiss, I want children in my final fantasy specifically for....reasons! Yisssss" while they lick their lips creepily. If someone comes in here and expresses that, thats a conversation to have at that time where people here who have an investment can address it.
Furthermore, if you cant keep a positive attitude in the thread, then please dont participate. All youre doing is coming in and acting like a moral busybody pushing your own standards and demanding people cow-tail to you and what you deem acceptable. You want to die on a hill for certain standards you hold, start your own conversation in a separate thread then and die on it there instead of derailing this one here (particularly where derailments of this kind can end up discrediting the entirety of the position of wanting male viera in general). If you cant be constructive to the chat, and come in starting a ruckus purposefully cause you have 'standards', then I think it's time for you to jog on.

That's a very strange take on it.
Thankfully I suspect there is a much greater chance that they will be designed to be classically handsome. There may very well be an androgynous facial option - as there is already for many of the male racial models - though if androgynous characters are your goal, I suggest playing a Lalafell as they offer what it is that you want.
Hopefully those of us who want our fierce, handsome forest protectors will not be cast aside for the sake of those seeking to hijack Viera men to be something jarring and a stark contrast to the women who are conventionally attractive.
I'm mostly hoping they'd come up with something new instead of what'd essentially be a third variation of the tall Au Ra / Elezen Man, with bunny ears. They'd still look cool like that but it makes more sense to me to add something actually unique, for the sake of both the diversity SE was seeking and for the viera's soft-but-fierce aesthetic as a race.
They're bringing more than female viera are at least, but I don't think what appears at glance to be a head swap on a roe body (bad posture aside) is as big of a shift as an actually different body type for male characters would be. But it's hard to say without actually seeing them in-game next to other characters yet. Female hrothgar would have been the best choice of all 4 if they actually wanted to diversify the character models though, no contest.

Who is hijacking male viera? They’re not yours to be hijacked lol. Many people want androgynous male viera (because that’s what they’re said to be up until the age of 13.) You always say you want classically handsome male viera, so why aren’t you hijacking from the people who want androgynous viera? You can play any other race save for Lalafell and you have a strong looking male character, it is unnecessary to have yet another male of a race being cookie cutted out for people who desire big strong men.
Yoshida has already stated they would basically look classically handsome. They'd be like elezen males with bunny ears, and more than likely with a little more bulk on them. It's not a far fetched bet that they will be using the elezen model with some tweaks, just like the female Viera is using the tweaked female elezen model. So yeah, it's being sort of highjacked depending on your viewpoint of those descriptives and if it clashes from the imagery that has been set by both lore and what was stated by Yoshida in his interview; however this will depend if you consider androgynous to be 'handsome' - if you do, then nah, not highjacked. If you think someone who's androgynous isn't classed as handsome and should move away from that; then yeah - kind of moving away from what Yoshida said and putting own desires forth. We should be happy for just having them included instead of this argument on people wanting something that is a stark contrast to there female counterparts.
Don't see anyone complaining that none of the females don't have an androgynous version - well we probably do, but I haven't seen any threads so far about the lack of androgynous females.. shrug. I hope we get the option for people to have a look that's in between. But seeing as this reveal has been long awaited for years upon years, I don't see them being extremely small, meek etc. Having an androgynous face version is perhaps the closest folks will get - if we're lucky, and I hope we are. One facial model isn't going to hurt the rest who want the ruggedly handsome look.
Note - if someone can post the link to the interview, that'd be great. All I remember is Yoshida said they'd be handsome, elegant and he likened them to Elezen. The interview was recent in response to the gender lock 'where is male bun boi'
Edit; here is the link hhttps://www.usgamer.net/articles/fi...r-trust-system
'If we did create a male design for Viera, he would be elegant, handsome and slim. He would look more like the Elezen race, but with bunny ears.' - Yoshida
As an add on; while Yoshida can change his mind it is very unlikely he won't change his vision for male Viera moving from the classical handsome to cute and/or androgynous as an entire sex- and this is if they even add them. Once he sets his mind on something he doesn't move unless his team pushes him. The massive outcry to change a races look to fit their specific wants isn't something he'll go for. A lot of MMO devs are like this.

The MMO industry pays very close attention to what its customers want and tries to give it to them. Avoiding tunnel vision and meeting calls for action are two ways game developers increase customer satisfaction score, which is a key driver in any decision/forecast done by any big company. Just to give a real world example of this here, the top NA threads every week are translated and presented to senior developers in Tokyo including Yoship himself. They wouldn't bother collecting and translating all of this information if they weren't willing to change in the face of strong customer response.
The thing about androgynous is it tends to lean more feminine, so an adrogynous female is typically easier to get to than the male counter part (particularly since this game relies on males broadly having typical characteristics.
However, Id like to point out (as a segway) if the devs actually updated and modified the character creator to be more interactive, this probably wouldnt be an issue. You want more masculine women or effeminate men, customize for it!
Ah... thatd be the life. Except for us lalafells. Then its just how much of a potato you want to be. Go from what we have now to a literal russet potato.
Yes, they pay close attention, but it doesn't automatically and always budge. It's the main developers vision of the game that trumps everyone else's. They will adjust accordingly if there's a major issue. Right now, the issue is there's no male Viera - which is an issue but not game breaking. They can try and fix it by adding in the male, which they hopefully will. They've gone ahead and thought of descriptives for the male; handsome, elegant and slim. This is what Yoshida wants. This is likely what we will get or not at all. We also can't ignore the fact there was a huge issue beforehand that he previously thought male rabbits were 'weird'. We do not know why he thought them to be weird, but some believe it's because they are seen as feminine.
They are indeed listening, but it doesn't mean they're going to act and give people an androgynous face when none of the other races has them except the potato, or have an entire gender be completely androgynous. Hopefully, they do give folks a facial option. But seeing as they're going to look like Elezen - I would urge folks not to get there hopes up after what happened with the gender lock reveal. For now, we can just hope they even add them and make do with what we can get.
I personally won't use the androgynous face if they have it - unless it fits my character; I would be using a more masculine option, jawline + facialhair- there are many more out there who also would like a masculine option and yet support an androgynous face. I'm confused why those who want an androgynous face also don't support those who also want the option to have a masculine one? Not all, but some. Just seems bizarre, why can't we have both facial options? Regardless, since we don't know the 'number' of who wants what - only who's the loudest and posts more often - we're not going to have the numbers to go off. So, all the devs have are people wanting male Viera with a few folks shouting how they would like them to be seen - multiple people wanting different things. A Dev is more likely to take what's being screamed with a pinch of salt and change it/adjust it to his vision - or completely overwrite it with what they desire so it fits more into the world.
SWTOR and ESO devs are very much the same, they may give way to adjustments but other times they stand firm or don't bother adding. I still don't have my cyborg chiss or my black haired altmer.
I'm hoping they just change the character creator to allow better customisation; then people can do whatever they want with the hight scale/muscle scale or make the face as feminine or masculine/ or between as possible. I liked ESO character creator for this.
This is where the issue lies, the restriction in the character creator. We shouldn't be shoehorning any race to look 'androgynous' - every single race should have this facial option. Character creator really needs a hugeee update. Perhaps we'll get it since we may be getting a facial hair update?
