Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

While I appreciate the enthusiasm for male viera, it might be best to keep our responses measured.

So I've heard of a few reasons male viera may decide to leave their wood, like the woods catching on fire or something. Anyone else have any other ideas?

The exact same reason as to why females leave the woods, since it makes no sense for females to leave and become exiles but for only females to do so

That depends, are we talking about why male Viera NPCs will appear, or why the PC left? Because the WoL doesn't really need incentive.
But that in and of itself could give reason for other males to follow. You talk to one, and their dialogue changes depending on if you're playing a male Viera or not. If not, they talk about "that guy" who left and opened the door. If you do, they directly credit leaving to you.

In addition to viera men fleeing disaster, there could, of course, be viera that have a poor sense of direction and wander out by accident. Viera who have chased an enemy or food source too far and ended up out in the open, and, of course, straight up idiot viera who end up in the middle of nowhere going "huh?" because they were spacing out hard and thinking about nature or something. There could be viera who ran away because ~THAT'S YOUR DREAM, DAD~, viera who left because they felt they were too weak for the job but didn't want to die because of it, viera who left because they were lonely, viera who left because they were lazy, viera who were straight up kicked out because they were lazy, viera who were simply curious about things that weren't forest related after becoming fascinated with things people left behind ala The Little Mermaid, viera who were "called" to leave (the generic explanation for the PC), viera who left because they got into a fight with some other dudes (typical rabbits), viera who left because they were becoming increasingly irritated by airship noise and wanted to settle things once and for all with the noisy machines...

...the possibilities are endless.

I doubt they'd go for any specific singular event to explain while male viera would be playable if they are added. They don't want to shoehorn in backstories to our characters like that. It'd probably be something simple along the lines of "but there are rumors that some of them have left the woods in search of a different life." And bam, there you go. All the justification that you need.

Could be something about the green word and chosen by Hydaelyn.

It's also said in the lore that some Vieras decided to leave following the Garlean attack, but they didn't specify them being female only. So some males might follow as well.

We are traveling to a different shard, where life is parallel but not the same. Perhaps male viera are more visible.

My theory is that there will be male Viera in the first and we will get them early in the expected anyways. The leaker that got everything right leaked male and female hrotgar on Eden so my guess is that we will also get female hrotgar soon

Yet people are treating it as if it is. Honestly reading through this, I got a good laugh. It's just gamer entitlement. The comments that made me laugh the most were the "I'll pay my sub again if" or "Unsubbing until added". Like SE actually care.

So because people are giving feedback and sometimes say that they might stop giving a product money because its not going the way they would like to is similar to "end of the world"? I hope you dont have the "entitlement" in your life in any way because as soon as you leave a bad review for something, stop using something from a company (with or without feedback) because of certain things you are now "entitled" too.

Games that people have played for years and that has created many emotions and memories with it will always be more emotional than any other item in real life. So of course some reactions might be a bit over the top or seem emotional at all. But I would dare and say that most of the people still dont see it as the end of the world, but simply as maybe the end of playing this game. Which might hurt if they have enjoyed it for years and wanted to enjoy it even longer but simply cant for reasons. (Genderlocks just maybe being one of them)

Edit: About reasoning why they are leaving: Well the forest being on fire could be one but since the WoL is special anyway and would have left way before the new expansion, it could simply be a vision of Hydaelyn that told them to battle for the world. Because if the world is lost then their forest is too. Maybe they could even go so far and never have a single male NPC out of the forest but let the WoL be one that is special in a way.
