Welcome to NA forums. You ether bite back or you get trampled on. I'm not a fan of it ether, but the cultural "norm" for most of NA is becoming more and more self-centered and anyone who disagrees is a heretic.Ok I love it how people keep saying how people who want male viera are aggressive but at least I dont go to all the threads of people asking for something different and telling them that they can't get what they're asking for since SE is doing other things in the most rude manner possible
Alright. If your priorities lie elsewhere isn't it just totally fine but I'm glad that you got the things that you prioritize.
Just understand that other's priorities are completely different, for instance, for me having male viera is a priority since its really important for me how my character looks like
Aside from the fact that this wasn't what I was saying, this is you:
Meanwhile, here was the guy your original post was in response to:I think they'll eventually give up at trying to play this shady game
This gender lock was caused me nothing but sadness and drama. I really hope it changes soon, I don’t want to wait longer than a year. We already waited long enough. No, I addressed your silly notion that the devs are busy playing 'shady games' with you lot by stating how the apparent absence of a response (even though they have given one already, in fact) can be simply due to them focusing on the game as there is more to it than a race. Are you honestly going to argue that the highlight of XIV is being a race? Is that why you play the game, simply to be as a race and nothing more?but at least I dont go to all the threads of people asking for something different and telling them that they can't get what they're asking for since SE is doing other things in the most rude manner possible

Except they probably will. Some people have been wanting to play as a more animal-like race for a while now. (The developers were aware of that and that’s why they were added.)
Not to mention Fantasia addicts like me will be willing to try them.
To be fair, I would have been fine with just getting the Hrothgar if it was to be as a whole, and wait another expension to get the Viera, as a whole too.
Even if my interest are in the Viera, having new race is always good for me.
Yeah I'm pretty excited for Hrothgar, planning on making several of them and getting the ARR story skip for them because I refuse to return to the waking sands again.
Anyway YEAH, I support getting male Viera and female Hrothgar for people who want to play them! But attacking Hrothgar and people who are excited for them is nasty and I've seen way to much of that in this thread.
As for lore? Lore is something easily overwritten and using it as an excuse not to include male Viera.
And again I hope you guys get what you want! But to be honest I really don't expect them to be added until maybe 6.0 , considering that Viera and Hrothgar won't be able to show headgear in 5.0, and who knows when they'll fix that. >.>

The poster you quoted isn't wrong, though. The situation in regards to the gender locks isn't a great one, though it isn't a huge priority for the development team at the moment. The upcoming expansion is the priority - and that is what is going to draw in more players. Again, I want to see the gender locks removed at some point though I don't expect it to happen anytime soon and I don't want it to happen anytime soon if it comes at the cost of other content being developed. Or, worse yet, the developers just hastily piece the locked genders together and push them out with all sorts of clipping and animation issues.
Wow... I didn't realize till now, that there'd be other folks out there who went through the same kind of stuff I went through. Honestly, my FC did the same exact thing! It was the admin and her mods and it turned from a heated debate... to them mocking me. Now whenever they either don't want ANYONE to talk about the topic, or will 'politely' claim that you're 'harassing' them by bringing it up. Not to mention the way they seem to "worship" Yoshi P and his team like they can do no wrong was horribly off-putting to me. But then again I'm under the firm belief that you can love something AND still be critical about it. If there's anything I dislike about any fandom, it's blind fanaticism. Can we all go back to actually supporting male viera we all already know the lore excuse was bs, then they changed it to not having money. We also still haven’t had a response so when will that happen? The faster they actually do something the faster people will be satisfied. They ignore emails and any type of message you send to them about male viera, do they even look at the forums? I’ve already lost so much hope and trust. Male viera is all I’ve ever wanted, basically day one. I loved ff12 and when I saw there was male miqote I got excited that there could be males and then when I saw the concept I never dropped it and always wanted them. When they were being released I talked about it everyday and then to find out it was female only it destroyed me. I don’t think I will ever get my hopes up again for this game. They destroyed my hope for male viera so many times with these fanfest, all the teasing and “wait what’s happening next” moments, especially with that movie.... on top of all of that I got so much drama in my fc because they didn’t like my opinions and didn’t care about it, was attacked by most of them (including the leader) so I left. This gender lock was caused me nothing but sadness and drama. I really hope it changes soon, I don’t want to wait longer than a year. We already waited long enough.
Of course and everyone has a different defintion anyways but I would dare to say that anyone that would not see Highlanders and the other three as muscular men would have a very specific taste. While one could at least still argue a bit more about the other three races. So in the end we have four muscular races and only three that could count as slim. So thats why I do wonder why some go around and say that a slim Viera (no matter the height) would be something that we have enough in the game.Well it'd also be a pretty selective line of argument, intended to produce a specific result.Since I could also start nitpicking with the "big" races, since there's a pretty wide gulf between Au Ra and Highlanders on the one hand and Roegadyn and Hrothgar on the other.
I honestly don't expect them to be any bigger than male Au Ra, and probably somewhere between an Elezen and an Au Ra, maybe leaning more to one or the other - by the sounds of it, Elezen.
The thing is these are all your tastes. Heck they could introduce another muscular race and it still would not be for you. But that does not change the fact that just by looking at it for muscles alone, you will have more options in the game than those that want truly slim characters.Au Ra are ruined for some by the odd shape of their hips, which makes them look odd in quite a lot of glamour. Highlander men are plagued by a lack of eyebrows, which is off-putting to a lot of people. In addition, they suffer a real case of 'same face' since there's only really two specific faces that you see used. Roegadyn are too muscular and are built like refrigerators. Which is the exact same case with the Hrothgar - though they, at least, have the benefit of being the first 'bestial' playable race to compensate.
Muscular men are also quite popular. Adding a muscle slider serves as an excellent compromise, though from a realism perspective Viera men are going to be at least somewhat well-built by virtue of spending so much time jumping and running through their forest.
And yes muscular men might be popular but half of the existing races fall into the category right now with Hrothgar. Slim or jp popstar figures are also quite popular, and at least those dont have that many choices.
Of course a great muscle slider would be the best but I doubt that they would introduce one that would go from slim to quite muscular especially since the character itself would still need to look fine.
Also its somehow fine that female Hrothgar are in the minority and depending on how they reproduce might need to be constant pregnant because its a fantasy race yet somehow Viera men have to be buff because they are running and jumping through the forest? Why does the argument that they are a fantasy race not count there? Especially when the fierce warrior female Vieras who protect their homes are sexy waifus..(also the JP lore hints at the males just being nomadic)
@Lauront: But again that is personal taste. I would also say that Elezen have too long necks to be attractive or that midlanders are too bland. In the end those that want something with muscle can choose from at least four greatly muscled races and at least one more if you count Elezen with their slight muscle too.

It's more that Roegadyn and Hrothgar are muscular beyond any point I'd consider attractive or appealing. I think you essentially have 4 different categories of physique at the moment, with 1) Lalafell, 2) Elezen/Midlanders/Miqo'te, 3) Au Ra and Highlanders and 4) Roegadyn and Hrothgar.
I don't personally subscribe to the "there's enough of X in the game" mentality myself. It's all down to how they individualise the race. As long as Viera are at or between points 2 and 3, I'll be quite pleased.
I'll add that I don't see it as an issue if they're slim in the sense that Elezen are, given all the awkwardness with the Elezen model meaning it's a write off to many people like myself. My preference is for slightly buffer but it wouldn't be a dealbreaker.
