Since there have been a number of people claiming "valid" arguments are not being put forth for the male Viera I have included a couple below, which have been formed from SE's own written lore.

Below is a quote of Viera lore taken directly from the Shadowbringers mini-site:



This lore provides support for male Viera on two counts:

Count 1 - The lore states that all Viera live life in accordance to the Green Word. Any Viera who leaves their homeland has broken the Green Word and is therefore sent into exile.....therefore from this section of the lore NO Viera should be playable including females...so for those who are adamant SE stays true to lore, then the Viera should never have really been a playable race to begin with...yet these same people very much support female Viera. This shows that there is a double standard with those who oppose male Viera based on the grounds of lore...

Count 2 - The more vital part of the Viera lore is that it states only the males live OUTSIDE Viera settlements and do so to protect their homeland from outside threats....such as Primals, Ascians, Garleans, and whatever else...Exactly like the WoL in that respect. So the official Viera lore actually supports males being playable more so than females because it's clear the males are the ones who will be the most likely to encounter said threats and outside influence.

Count 1, is why I say they should've finished hrothgar (females, helmets) and made viera a beast tribe and released them for 6.0 (See, square enix, a tease is good when you go "uh-oh looks like you're not getting them! SIKE! Their entire story line this expansion is justification for you seeing tons of them as players next expansion!" Not, "Oh well if you're interested in this specific thing, you'll have to look behind this curtain!" *pulls curtain to reveal a giant middle finger*)

And count 2, is justification for why they (both male and females) would be starting the game in 6.0 in ARR story.

Can we all go back to actually supporting male viera we all already know the lore excuse was bs, then they changed it to not having money. We also still haven’t had a response so when will that happen? The faster they actually do something the faster people will be satisfied. They ignore emails and any type of message you send to them about male viera, do they even look at the forums? I’ve already lost so much hope and trust. Male viera is all I’ve ever wanted, basically day one. I loved ff12 and when I saw there was male miqote I got excited that there could be males and then when I saw the concept I never dropped it and always wanted them. When they were being released I talked about it everyday and then to find out it was female only it destroyed me. I don’t think I will ever get my hopes up again for this game. They destroyed my hope for male viera so many times with these fanfest, all the teasing and “wait what’s happening next” moments, especially with that movie.... on top of all of that I got so much drama in my fc because they didn’t like my opinions and didn’t care about it, was attacked by most of them (including the leader) so I left. This gender lock was caused me nothing but sadness and drama. I really hope it changes soon, I don’t want to wait longer than a year. We already waited long enough.

Same here. I think they are trying to let this die down but it's just not gonna happen, and at launch it will get even worse, with many new players complaining too. I think they'll eventually give up at trying to play this shady game and will give us an answer. I would expect them to release male Viera through early on the expansion and female Hrotgar later, not like I want that but with SE already demonstrating that they don't care at all about their values is something that could very well happen.

Also I have taken a look at the press, and there is literally not a single article that praises SE on this. All of them either say players are angry (true) or that SE did something wrong (also true). Bad press is one of the worst things that you can give to a game so they are practically forced to add missing genders later which would give them tremendously good press like 'SE listens to all of its playerbase!' and things like that. Actually, I know a decent amount about marketing and it is certainly possible this is just a trick to earn good press. They do both genders, they say they havent and they hold on to them, people get super angry and mad, they release them soon after (like for instance as a suprise on benchmark or at 5.1 or something like that), and they earn the best press you can imagine
