The problem with that theory is it doesn't take into account for aether which permeates Eaorzia to a large degree. Who knows how that could affect the biologies of flora and fauna alike.

I can't remember the exact details, but something about being exposed to Bahamut's aether changed Nael into a woman? So it has happened before. lol
It was actually a brother and sister combo where one's memories were overwritten or something, but a lot of that story wasn't included in the 2.0 portions. At the very least, they weren't translated too well, if they existed. It was left to the lore book and other media
But we do know that aether does transmute living organisms, as is evident throughout the game and especially in Eureka, so that's still actually more than a valid explanation to anything they want to do with it!
It's actually more of a Mulan scenario with Nael. She took the identity of her dead brother, Nael, and wore the armor to conceal it.
Now I really feel sorry for the poor lion ladies. Talk about the short end of the stick! At least boy buns get to be roving rabbits, the cat dames seem to be stuck in... some kind of deeply unpleasant situation. This is what happens when you paint yourself into a corner--you don't think things through and accidentally create a dystopian society.(The kind of problem you run into during NaNoWriMo...)I'm really into seeing male viera unlocked, but this new lore kind of makes me want to see the big cat girls be released even more because... eeeesh. Maybe write the unlock as a recent and miraculous explosion in the birth of females, I don't know--the current situation there is just too weird.
If there's something high I will definitely fall off of it
I'm in the camp of the lore for female Hrothgars being...... Well, just down right bizarre. I read the lore and it just felt...... Gross.
They could've handled it through much better lore than that, really. The imbalanced ratios for each sex are getting a bit tired/tiring now. In both cases, but certainly the Hrothgar scenario is much worse than even the Viera's case. At least for Viera men there's a separate explanation to their rarity. I wish they'd just limit the highly imbalanced sex ratios to miqo'te and leave it at that. I don't think they really thought this through too well.
