Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

I've seen some people express their displeasure that male viera and female hrothgar are not currently being implemented, but I haven't seen any outrage in this thread these past few days. That's not to say they will or won't be added. Even so, it's still in the best interest of those who want male viera and female hrothgar to leave feedback on the forum. Preferably in already existing threads lol

It's ok to be disappointed when something you want isn't announced (I'm still waiting for bait boxes), but people are treating this as if it was intentional when it wasn't. I can see why they chose the genders they did for the initial release because when it comes to Hrothgar/Ronso then Kimari is the one who comes to mind and when you think of Viera then Fran is who comes to mind (or the Viera from Tactics Advance). Add to that the only Viera seen through every game they're featured in, including this one, have been female. If they had male Viera abundantly walking around then there would be a precedence for them. So taking that into account, if they were going to release two new races on an initial limited scale then those would be the ideal pairings for race/gender since that's what people are familiar with.

I wonder how much longer we'll have to wait for another official announcement. I know Yoshi P said they would look at player feedback, but it feels like it's been forever and a day.

Again you're assuming that they never had plans to release both genders from the start when all they really said was they released what they thought would please the most people with the short time and resources they had. Perhaps they are taking feedback to see if there is enough interest to go forward with releasing the other genders or maybe that was the plan from the start, none of us know for sure because it's not even out yet. If down the line they reveal that they weren't going to release them then sure you can be upset, but at this juncture outrage is unnecessary.

From what I understand they had no intention of releasing any new races for this expansion and decided at the last minute to add them due to requests, so on that note we should be happy they're even offering this much.

they might give male viera super early to get money (5.0-5.1) and then release fem hrotgar later

You're more hopeful than I am. I worry they'll crunch the numbers, see that male Viera supporters are the majority of the outcry, and then release only male Viera to pacify as much as they can with little investment as possible. Then keep female Hroths dangling like an impossible dream, citing resources as why they could barely add male Viera but not female Hroths. But time will tell.

staggering them is fine since end result is the same (as long as they communicate and say yeah we are making both just give us time)

They'd have to be very, very transparent about it. I mean, they've been saying they were working on the bunny outfit for literally years and people were anxious and left in the dark. That's why if and when an announcement comes about either missing option, I'd hope for a patch number to come along with it. Because "it will definitely come in six months" is frustrating, but a lot better than "we'll definitely do it sometimes".

The decision to gender lock initially was 100% intentional, the decision to not say Viera was gender locked when announced was intentional, no matter what SE and Yoshi handled giving the news poorly (using lore on stage and having to wait for interviews to go up for the genuine reason is bad). There has been zero implications Hrothgar were a thing outside and inside(still to this day) the game until the french text leak so Hrothgar are way more out of nowhere than male Viera and a male Viera being WoL is less lore breaking than a Hrothgar walking into 2.0 Gridania/Ul'Dah without being detained/interrogated/attacked. So what if ffxiv adds male Viera it doesn't force the SE to make them for future games since ffxiv ivalice =/= Ivalice of Tactics/ff12. As for limited race thing i would've preferred 1 race rather than 2 1/2 races on implementation but that is a personal biased on my part whether this was ideal i cannot say as personally we have yet to see if it was one way or the other.

Most people are willing to wait to see how things will go, we do not want to work the devs to the ground but we are voicing ourselves when we feel the devs have done a mistake that we would like rectified eventually. This thread is one thing to a lot of the people posting and supporting it and that is Hope, we are hoping the devs decide to add male Viera and female Hrothgar , we are hoping to have our voices heard.
