Genderlocking is extremely unpopular by default. In other games classes are gender locked because apparently guys can't heal.

Imagine if Dancer was a female only class and they introduce a bs explanation "the dance academy doesn't accept men :/" would you still defend it?

The explanation for no male viera got changed from "lore" to "resources" because lore didn't hold ground when male keepers are playable.
Resources? Why do they create a separate fat model for miqo that also needs adjustments for clothes, bodies, faces, etc? Why do they add Hrothgar - another manly Buff and Tall race - and female viera - another cutesy race.

I had more respect if they had added cutesy bunny boys and tough lion ladies because then it'd be a reversal of gender expectations but the dimorphism we're seeing here are WoW levels of bad.

There is vision and that's all well and good and then there's gameplay pragmatism which is why the dev team breaks their own lore continuously to let us have White Mage, Raen, and male keepers

Remember folks we have the power here! We are not indebted to SE. We do not own them blind loyalty nor do we have to unquestionably accept their decisions! You can criticize things you like and want for things to be changed.

And you have a wide variety of choices in FFXIV.

And if they give us male viera and female ronso we have even more! Like i said;

"if Square Enix continues making strides to give us just as diverse options? Then we'll only keep growing - as well their wallets!"

For example, a beast-like race is something three of my friends have wanted from MMO's for as long as they've been playing them. With this announcement? All three are finally leaving years worth of playing WoW for Hrothgar/Ronso.

As far as I'm concerned? I've been in a pretty decent sized online-community absolutely enchanted by the Ivalice final fantasies for around three years now. They especially adore Bangaa and Viera - many roleplaying both genders. And you BET everyone has been talking about the viera announcement for months and now it's twofold. If Square adds male viera I would bet my life on 50% of them subbing right then and there.

These sort of small examples are plentiful, easy for multiple people to have, and cause a sort of domino effect that modern companies make their business to try and predict. I truly believe adding both genders would be SO worth it.

We should have Male Viera and Female Ronso. One of the reasons I joined this game over any other MMO last year was because no genderlocked races. That was a complete disqualifying factor for other MMOs in my search and here a year later they implement it. It's really disappointing and makes me seriously consider the option of other MMOs which sucks... I love this game but this is very discouraging.
