Ah, so just like how I prefer male characters w/o facial hair. Perhaps other options would have been best after all.Considering the fact that potatoes are one of JP server's favourite races, that one of their biggest threads is about wanting more flowery glamour items and that 99% of male characters in anime dont have beards or a stubble even if they are like 25/30, I higly doubt that many of them care that much tbh.

Tbh it seems quite strange to me that face 1 didnt get a stubble, and would have liked one, but overall I think that the facial hair, specially for face 2 should have been replaed by something else in terms of options, it dosent fit the face and it llooks quite out of place imo
HeyWould Japanese even look to Chinese media as an influence for male viera? Male viera are young on top of that, I don't think they really fit a Japanese general, or samurai aesthetic either. I do agree male viera could easily fit into animes though. Speaking of this, I do wonder what the Japanese community's reception to the male viera facial hair is.
Sadly I don't know where SE took their inspiration from regarding male Viera but I would not say it is impossible that they took some ideas from chinese or korean media since those became quite popular in recent years all around the world. They could however just as well have looked at bishounen faces from Animes or elves from varying series to fit the young, beautiful, never aging style of the Viera.
In my opinion they could have just given us something else instead of the beards we got.. more scars, moles, I don't know.
On the other side what we got is not a dealbreaker for me because I am not really into beards. Even though I would have liked one handsome beard on at least one Viera face. But oh well!

My male viera character, Maxim.
Honestly, the posture is pretty much similar to anime male characters like this guy from the Code Geass anime.
Not saying that SE shouldn't look at what people are saying on the postures of certain races and genders, but the male viera posture isn't bad to me really. Although, certain armors on them look..weird, but then again, the male miqo'te is a bit worse, and they're the 2nd most played male characters in the game after the Hyur regardless. The /changepose emote would make things better in game, but in cutscenes, well, it depends.

Honestly, I'm very happy on what we got for the male viera. Can't wait on what they'll give us for the female Hrothgar. I've heard that they would be like very much like the Mithra from FFXI; humanoid, but more beastly than the miqo'te or something. That would be an interesting sexual dimorphism between the genders.
Changed a few days ago to catboy and now I must say, the male Viera pose is really much much better xD And yes the male au'ra run animation is really not good -_-eh, compared to other male animations and poses male viera are pretty good
catboys' default is so bad that for graha tia (rewatch cutscenes he's in with you or just when he's out in the overworld) they modified his head to not angle downward like a normal catboy's would.
and don't get me started on male aura and their crash bandicoot run animation (you won't be able to unsee it)
TBH, I would stay as a catboy... Since after november, only few will survive the Catboy Apocalypse.
Bunboys give me the same vibes, but the huge selling point is the lack of a tail.
Sometimes the tail clipping gets on my nerves, and it's funny how they keep releasing sets with capes or buttflaps and just... overlook the clipping, lol.
The tail is the thing i would miss the most. I like it. I kinda wish viera had a little bun tailTBH, I would stay as a catboy... Since after november, only few will survive the Catboy Apocalypse.
