Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

The announcement of Viera was the reason I even started playing this game... I am very sad there won't be any male Viera

Yeah, I get that. It was the main thing I was looking forward to for this expansion, and a couple of my friends and I were planning on coming back and being active as bunny boys.The game is certainly fun as it is, but we like to play it kind of like dnd together and I was looking forward to making a male viera.

This! I feel like when it comes to male Viera, the fact that they barely appear in lore is very interesting and leaves room for a lot of amazing possibilities. How did a male Viera end up being the Warrior of Light and a fabled hero? There are many interesting stories that could be spun here.
If a male Miqo'te or a Xaela from the Steppe can find themself as a adventurer in Eorzea, why shouldn't a Viera man be capable of it? Lore and it's traditions have never really applied to the protag of this game - and I mean this in a positive way. It's empowering to see anyone can be the hero. And it's empowering to let players choose how they look. Not to mention it makes for a whole lot of fun while playing....

What's the lore behind them never leaving? What compels them from puberty to old age to never even think about leaving?

Are they indoctrinated in some nefarious scheme? Do they hunt down their own if the ever try to escape? Is it a spell or some magic that binds them? Do they all just think alike and aren't individuals at all?

To me alot of the reasons that would keep them all, every single last Male without deviation, without question would have some form of less then noble origin in my eyes. If they aren't individual's at all but more feral beings who only really act on instinct then that's the whole men are beasts woman are breasts dichotomy that's really gross. (And you can't say it wouldn't because the Vieira reveal video was nearly soft core in its sexy bunnies ladies running around in their underwear.)

Where is their freewill? If they don't have freewill then who or what is taking it? Isn't generally seen as bad to strip people of their freewill?

Ok so theres two things im curious about and Id like everyone to chime in on this. I wasnt really excited about viera in the first place but was and still am curious about male viera to the point id fantasia an alt. Anywho, given the resent mr happy interview https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...8GTvPw4uI/edit, two things pop to mind.

1.Since the devs have no referrence point then maybe its up to the community to decide what look or form male viera should have. Are we able to agree or vote on one design that is the best out of all the others? Can we submit our own ideas and vote? i think this would be the way to go. Or they could hold a contest for the design! The people should vote

2. On the flip side we just had Matsuno-san helping with the Ivalice raid. SE You have the father of Ivalice with you! If you cant consult him on this for the proper look then....who can you?? Doesnt make sense. But yeah hed be a great resource to use. Yoshi P and the devs contact Matsuno-san or anyone who worked on 12 or tactics to get a good idea right? Just throwing in my 2 cents here.

P.S. We have two years to til we get another crack at this, and its best to offer any suggestions ( in a constructive and concise manner of course ) to help the devs along with their desicion so they give Male Viera AND female Ronso ( Sorry too lazy to type Hrothgar ) to us.

As an old FFXI player (Beastmaster represent) the thing that originally drew me into playing FFXIV was the inclusion of male Mi'qote.

I was pretty disappointed watching the stream to see the game returning to gender-locked races when I thought we were already past that...

And seeing the excuses that its Lore-related is even more confusing when in past Live Letters they said that the Ivalice of FFXIV is not the same Ivalice as FFXII and Tactics, Revenant Wings, etc. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...804-09-2014%29

If that is the case it seems like a fine enough opportunity to find a reason for male Viera to make their way out of the forests just like the women. Fran was supposed to be a rare exception as well so opening up Viera at all is just as lore-breaking. Let us have fun in a video game as bunny boys please.

And as someone who exclusively played female Charr in Guild Wars 2 I also support the additional inclusion of female Hrothgar. they had a good reason tbh even tho i want male viera and female hrothgar as much - they just did the implementation of the races wrong. they should have released both races, but first one race with both genders, then the next one

i don‘t think the additional genders will be released before 6.0 tbh. i don‘t think they have the resources to add them in 5.2 or 5.3, i‘d really welcome it tho!

I also fear that we wont see the other parts of the race before 6.0 which is over two years away. Way too long for me. x_x

But hey on the other hand they also always said that they cant give us more housing, but after the shirogane disaster we suddenly get double the wards in each region because people were so angry. So maybe this discussion can help them to get more budget for that specific issue.

While I understand their frustrations, because believe me...genderlocking is ridiculous in this day and age-- I think unsubbing is a bit much. It kind of sounds like they wanted a reason to unsub. Any reason, really and I guess this was it. I probably don't have a lot of context because I'm not the most frequent player around (I stopped playing for several months last year and originally began my journey in Nov. '17), so there could be a multitude of reasons why folks are especially upset. But yeah, this is a lot.

Or maybe it was the final straw for them? Is it really that surprising that someone is finally done with the game if they even failed on that? Just because they are saying that this is the reason why they are unsubbing is probably for a lot of them not the only one to do so.

Also I am not sure why someone is throwing a tantrum just because they are writing that they are going to drop their sub. (Not meant directly at you Miharu just using this post to say that) We have no other direct way to tell SE why we are going. And it is important for SE to know because the ones that go silently are the worst for them because then they dont know why they went away and if they could change it. I also remember at least a couple of "unsub" threads over the last months for different reasons and a lot of them were civil and with reasonable OPs but like most of the times quite a lot of the answers to the OP were rude. Honestly seeing how many threads had been created just to point fingers at those that are disappointed and/or wanted to unsub...(from being a disgrace, blackmailing and more) then I wonder who are really the ones that are throwing tandrums. (And I know bad posters existed on the disappointed side too, but most of the posters had been civil)

While 2 years feels like quite bit of time for us to sit on the edge of our seats, I think it’s reasonable timeframe on the dev’s side when it took around 2 years for f viera/m hrothgar to get from start to finish. I hope that between 5.0 and 5.1 they’re able to round up the resources needed for a 6.0 release :>

At least the OP for this thread is being more mature and productive with his post unlike those people throwing tantrums and claiming they are unsubbing xD

There have been tons of people that have been polite. Even most of the unsub threads are polite (at least by OP) and totally warranted because there is no text field to state a reason why you are unsubbing, only a selection of choices that are not applicable to this situation (i.e. swapping payment method, playing another game, etc). Communicating to the devs respectfully about why you are unsubbing is completely valid and acceptable.

Even then, those without freewill can break free. Look at the Gnath and the break off of the Nonmind. There is tons of fascinating stories they can follow regarding possible male forest juju brainwashing and the survivors of said brainwashing, but just writing them into a corner never to be seen is really boring and lazy imo.

I would really love it if we can get an implementation for male viera and female hrothgar. I appreciate that we have both races now available but I truly believe that the implementation of them was wrong in the sense that we have gender locked races. I don't mind if it takes longer to make (considering the development time required to make the models and such). Nevertheless, I truly do want all races to be available for both genders.

I don’t want to be a kid bunny either lol, I want to be a hot tall bunny but I’m okay being shorter than females, I also want that fur patch on their chest, I don’t want to be completely covered in fur just that patch. The original concept art with them in armor is the one I want most.
