I just want to add and height comparison of my own, since I'm as curios and excited as everyone, my current character is a max height elezen, compared to unknown male viera.
I matched the angle and zoom the best I could, positioned my elezen's feet where the viera's feet were positioned in the scene before, I also tried to match with a similar idle pose.
2 details to keep in mind, the viera is slightly hunched in this picture, this is the frame before he statrs walking and the only one where his back is more or less straight, while my elezen's back is completely straight. In the video the viera is shown without any clipping, but the plank where he stands clips with the character in game, I don't know if it's still not clipping after he stands, in case he were not clipping it would make my elezen look about 1cm shorter.Agreed! This seems to be much more accurate than the one with the female Viera, despite the male Viera still being hunched over. This is the best comparison of that scene I've seen yet, the image ratios and in game scale look similar. In other comparisons you can see parts of the background that don't match up like the window being longer. This is good, the problem is that there's no way of knowing what height slider the male Viera is using there.
The height difference between a max height male Elezen and a max height female Viera is much bigger than what is implied in this picture. It seems to me that the screenshot of the female Viera was not taken at the same angle/distance as the scene in the trailer, and that's why the female looks so large.
I'm going to assume that the male Viera in the trailer are average height. Most NPCS in the game are average height, so it seems safe to assume the male Viera are as well. I don't think they would showcase shorter-than-average or taller-than-average male Viera in their debut.
Looking at this comparison, it seems that a max height male Viera would still be shorter than a max height male Elezen. This is totally normal and expected though, since female Viera at max height are still shorter than female Elezen at max height.
Elezen are the naturally taller race of the two. However, that being said, a max height male Viera would be close to a max height male Elezen (about 2 inches shorter or so).
Thanks for making this!
Hrothgar are also a naturally taller race than Viera. If a max male Viera is 2 or so inches shorter than a max male Elezen, and a max male Elezen is about 1 inch shorter than a max male Hrothgar, that means the difference between max male Viera and max male Hrothgar would be about 3 or so inches, and I can see how that would be possible in this picture, whether that Hrothgar is average or maximum height. Even if that Hrothgar is max height and the Viera is average, the Hrothgar's leaning-back pose would make him look shorter than in actuality.
looks like they are a bit taller than the females. This is the best comparison of that scene I've seen yet, the image ratios and in game scale look similar. In other comparisons you can see parts of the background that don't match up like the window being longer. This is good, the problem is that there's no way of knowing what height slider the male Viera is using there.
if you compare the following height chart, it shows that female viera can get as big as the lowest male elezen in height.
f. viera max: 191.4 cm
m. elezen lowest: 191.4 cm
that screeny of the comparison between male viera and male elezen makes it seem like m viera on there is a tad bit taller than the lowest elezen in height - taller than 191.4cm (in comparison to m elezen and his silhouette in the height chart)
but in the end we won‘t know for sure until the benchmark arrives. but i still enjoy speculating abit - makes the waiting game more bearable!

Thanks, I really did my best with this just out of curiosity, but please keep in mind that it's not perfect, as said in my post the clipping plank is an unsolved mystery and there's a possible slight deviation in the horizontal axis which shouldn't affect much the height comparison but it's still there.
I would say that there's a margin of error of 2cm down and 1cm up in the m viera height, even with this, if the m viera is indeed average, I would say that max height males are same height as females if not taller, but definitely shorter than elezen.
I've actually been trying to stay off the forums, but I felt obligated to come say congrats! And thanks to YoshiP and the team! Really looking forward to changing to a bun boi come November. Incredibly thankful; happy w/ the design![]()
Looks like a good comparison. I expected them to be around this height.
Edit: I wasn't going to originally post this but w/e I made another height comparison
Found the image I used finally. So from my previous image, it looked like the male viera was about 8 heads tall. So with that information, I did this:
When I look at the character height sheet, there doesn't seem to be a huge range in height save for female roegadyn. So I was really just eyeballing that range from 0%-100% which is why I didn't plan on posting it since it's really not that accurate lol
Edit #2: It looks like max height female viera also reaches up to female roegadyn's collar or somewhere around that.
If I were to take a guess, it looks like there's only going to be a few centimeters of difference in height. They look to be about the same height as the females. I am unsure which is the taller of the two, but most likely male? Only by a few centimeters it seems.
Posting this height comparison again:

So what's the breakdown on their height? About the same height as the females, give or take a few CM?
Ah, that sounds about right. The male viera feral slouch is throwing things off in regards to proportions but makes sense as they're always on high alert and look like they're about to bolt.

Congratulations to those who wanted this, hope you are happy![]()

Super curious on what their reasoning is for finally leaving the jungle. I had my own speculation but seems far-fetched but also makes sense in a way. I always kind of wondered if the spirit of the wood is basically a primal and that the males are tempered, by said spirit. Thus why you'll never see a male venture out because they're extremely strict in regards to following the Greenword, as opposed to the females - that aren't tempered - won't. That way you're hardly going to see any males because they're tempered and loyal, barring the WoL mViera who obviously, due to being born with the echo, isn't.
I'm sure it's not as convoluted and it's just 'gotta protect wood, the spirit says go' type of deal. But it does get me interested on just what the spirit is. The Viera worship her.
