Maybe Im getting it confused but yeah, still, I belive I read somehwere that they werent as against with ppl leaving as they're in the source (maybe im just wrong and it was the other way around or something, so feel free to correct me If I'm wrong).
I think you mean the Viis, the Veena are just one of the clans on the Source. And there's a whole plotline for the Viis about how those that leave the woods are not allowed to return, until, of course, we are doing the quest and one of the sisters wants to leave and return with what she's learned and iirc it's taken as a "well, ok, I guess"
My guess as to how Fran will react if you're a male Viera is... how Yugiri reacts if you're an Au Ra pre-2.55. That is, not at all.

YAYYYYYYYY I am soooo excited for this male viera announcement!! I remember during the shadowbringers fanfest i was crushed by the no new healer and no male viera announcement. Now here we are!!! Super stoked for Endwalker and whats to come.![]()
I... am struggling to remember. I KNOW it was a thing in XII (Jote: "Why do you ask? The Wood tells us where she has gone. Or...can you not hear Her? You cannot. Your ears are dull from hearing their harsh speech, I think. Viera who have abandoned the Wood are viera no longer. Mjrn, too, has left Her embrace."), but at the same time Fran ENTERS Eruyt because the Wood tells her Mjrn is in trouble (Fran: "I've heard the voice of the Wood. She says Mjrn is not in the village. Jote. Where has she gone?"). So it implies her connection is dulled but not entirely broken. If I remember right, don’t the viera that leave lose the ability to hear the Greenwood? Even if they come back, the Greenwood doesn’t speak to them, but they aren’t kicked out by nature either? I know it’s so far away to think about 7.0, but I’d love if we ended up in the viera homelands and got a nature type green mage. I’m selfish and would like a whole expansion filled with viera lore
It's left ambiguous if her connection could be strenghtened/reconnected were she to return to the Wood and stay (Jote: "The Wood longs for you. For the child gone from under Her boughs.", Fran replies: "A pleasant lie, that.").
But, AS FAR AS I RECALL (I could be remembering wrong, though), in XIV it's left ambiguous as to whether it works the same. Fran mentions "the souls are connected even if bodies are apart" (that one I don't remember that well). I was going to say the Green Word in XIV is more of a set of Viera laws, but then I remembered the previous quote and now I'm confused if it's an actual connection or a metaphorical one.
Edit: Looked it up, it wasn't Fran, but the Dramaturge saying a Viera told him "The value of coexistence will not be found 'neath a loincloth. Long has our kind endured understanding that the distance 'twixt two bodies does not dictate the distance 'twixt two souls." which... implies a connection between one another if you're looking for it? And the dramaturge DOES talk of the Green Word, but he refers to it as a "strict code" rather than the Voice of the Forest.

Unlikely there will be anything. Basing this off the fact there's no change to the script if you're an Au Ra when interacting with Yugiri before her face reveal, when she was explicitly hiding her face because of her race. There's also no special text in Stormblood if you're a highlander male relating to liberating your home, even though they've decided for us that all male highlanders in FFXIV are from Ala Mhigo (due to us all shaving off our eyebrows)
Recently replayed XII... they say that Fran was no longer able to hear the greenword because she had become deaf to it after listening to the harsh voices of the humes for so long. So it's not that the greenword doesn't speak to her, it's that she's no longer able to hear it when it tries. Don't know if that lore applies to XIVIf I remember right, don’t the viera that leave lose the ability to hear the Greenwood? A quick glance at this individual's posting history will show you that it's not worth the effort. Their repeated visits to this thread combined with the use of words like "revolting" and "disgusting" to refer to the mere implementation of the male counterpart of a playable race tells us we're either dealing with a troll or someone with severe mental/emotional dissonance.
On a more positive note, Male Viera look fantastic and I am all the more excited for Endwalker. Congrats to everyone who kept the dream alive. <3

I just want to add and height comparison of my own, since I'm as curios and excited as everyone, my current character is a max height elezen, compared to unknown male viera.
I matched the angle and zoom the best I could, positioned my elezen's feet where the viera's feet were positioned in the scene before, I also tried to match with a similar idle pose.
2 details to keep in mind, the viera is slightly hunched in this picture, this is the frame before he statrs walking and the only one where his back is more or less straight, while my elezen's back is completely straight. In the video the viera is shown without any clipping, but the plank where he stands clips with the character in game, I don't know if it's still not clipping after he stands, in case he were not clipping it would make my elezen look about 1cm shorter.
I encourage anyone who wants to try to do their own comparisons.

I suppose we don't really know if Green Word works the same in FFXIV as it does in FFXII, but it seems that at least on The First Viera can hear the wood. Then again, we know about the elementals on The Source (though I can't remember now if there are any in the forest of Fanow), so there's a possibilty that Viera, like Padjali in Gridania, are all hearers by nature.Edit: Looked it up, it wasn't Fran, but the Dramaturge saying a Viera told him "The value of coexistence will not be found 'neath a loincloth. Meanwhile there's the player character regardless of the race who can hear an ancient song playing out when they enter Raktika, and apparently it is a very rare occurrence for this to happen as a listener is rarely chosen. (Obviously not rare for the WoL though! lol) But yeah, they probably can hear the wood calling to them. On the First, it is just a social code to never leave, but a certain Viera is permitted to come and go as they please after convincing the village elders that it was the right call. I'd be surprised if it wasn't the same way on the Source, that being a social code of conduct. Fran left the forest and apparently won't be welcomed back anytime soon.I suppose we don't really know if Green Word works the same in FFXIV as it does in FFXII, but it seems that at least on The First Viera can hear the wood.
