Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

Appealing to lore with bun boys was always curious thing.

Especially considering that the lore is never broken, in that the WoL is the only one important in the grand scheme of things. Chose to be a male Viera or female Hrothgar? You're STILL incredibly rare, and no other ones have been seen in the story up to this point proving it.

I especially hold this point because we have to consider "new" races from the perspective of a level 1 player. Duskwights in Gridania (not a new race, I know, but a Lore-breaking one), Au Ra in Ishgard pre-3.0, Hrothgar and Viera... anywhere. A good deal of separating gameplay and story is to be expected considering, even if some big event were to happen in 5.55/6.0 that forces Male Viera to leave their forests, it'll still canonically happen in the future for a new player.

Their lore is one of the reasons i want them so much. Even tho character customization is still the main reason.
I love the mysterious vibe they give off. They are savage killer machines and i am so thrilled to learn more about them! They kill every men and women not familiar to them stepping into their forest without asking questions. It would be nice to see what would drive them so much to start collaborating with people outside the forest and resulting in letting them join their sisters, who already left.
And seeing the females looking gorgeous i guess the males would look just as handsome - which makes me want them even more!

Here's the thing: If *any* male Viera was going to leave the forest it would *be* the WoL. Ever since their first incarnation, they've been a traveler, a wanderer. That wouldn't change now, no matter the cultural strictures.

It would just be better to suggest Male Viera have changed and joined the outside world, which would account for all the other Male Viera we will see outside of the Forest.
Saying the only Male Viera that left is the WoL, and then you see other Male Viera running around...just makes no sense.

While there are of course some who for some reason use lore as a reason to say Male Viera can't or shouldn't happen I also think a lot of people mix in those who point out it's just being used at the excuse. Obviously they're not playable right now, so there needs to be a reason, thinly vailed as it may be. Their lore why we see no male Viera not why there can't be male Viera.

Would depend how they want to do it, with the Au Ra they kind of reverse integrated them into the game, with a "they were always there" kind of approach. Viera and Hroth got a more soft integration where they were much rarer till very recently

Right, which works for the Au-Ra and the Hrothgar, and for the most part pretty much Female Viera.

To be fair, the player Vieras [or any other player for that matter] are technically not canon in your story, so even if there are dozens upon dozens of male Viera players, yet 1 or 2 NPC at most, you can still say they're rare. If I recall it's even been mentioned that despite male moon cat players being popular, there's only a handful of moon cat NPC - it'd be the same for Viera.

Hrothgar and Viera literally kinda just appeared one day and integrated into society like any other person. If anything, the one that doesn't make sense whatsoever, because it was directly addressed in the MSQ, was Yugiri mentioning Eorzeans may be afraid of her features for being an unknown race, even if there's another Au Ra [the player] sitting right in front of her.
