If both tasks would take a considerable amount of resources then they most differently focus on the character customization for other races over adding the missing genders.

The technical debt is massive I agree that much but the time required working around said debt would be far better invested in an overall upgrade to existing playable races. I hope SE does the logical thing when it comes to characters.

Again, 'new character customization' is definitively good, but from a marketing standpoint 'we are fixing an issue that our community has been clmaoring to get fixed, we are releasing not one but two new playable models!' just sounds more exciting and able to lock those preorders, specially since the character customization wouldnt likely be tied to the expansion. Imo, both of those should be done, but before expanding on more optiosn for everne they should get everyone on board, including the missing genders, and then focus on adding the extras

While I do really want to see male viera/female hrothgar, I would actually be curious to see what effect that has on preorders. I think the people that would be the most excited for that would be preordering anyways (but that's just my 2 cents).

Here's to hoping we get some good news tomorrow though! I've been seeing quite a bit of support on Reddit for it lately as well. There was even a pretty active post yesterday iirc.

In the end I do not think the missing genders would enough to draw in a large crowd to preorder the game, just as further character customization would be a draw for preorders. Though from a seer numbers point of view that provides the largest impact on the overall community further character customization dwarfs the general impact on the existing player base. In an ideal world both should be done, but if I do hope if Yoshi-P had to choose on what content to focus on he prioritizes content with the largest reach. Not sure focus on buzzword style content.

New customization, races or otherwise, have never been a big net for new players. Fresh cosmetics are for old player retention. New jobs are the noobie hook.

I don't know about preorders but it would definitely bump up fantasia sales as there are so many guys that would switch to male viera in a heartbeat.

Fantasia is very likely to be the most profitable source of income for the development team at this point. Especially if it's true that Mog Station money goes into the game itself.

As such, they're missing out on a lot of potential money by not touching up the older playable races and adding the missing genders.

There's quite a lot of people who already guzzle fantasia on a daily, weekly or monthly basis after all.

It's rumoured that some people guzzle so much of it, they lose any permanent form and just shift between races and gender spontaneously.
