I believe that limiting a race to any single gender, impacts a portion of the player base. I feel, it's a shoot yourself in the foot move my SQEX.
Just my 2 gil.

Can you link me this interview? or give me a specific date? 2013 was when ARR came out and considering it was a success after a massive failure, there's most likely many interviews for FFXIV that year.
For example, this is supposedly from 2013 and is exactly what happened.

Heh, we're near the dawn of 6.0, early next year we'll know whether we're getting the missing genders or not. It's been a great wait, I just want to see the excuse they'll use as to why they couldn't add male viera.
Unless they do something like they did with Yugiri or Fran (either throwing one into the MSQ, or added at the end of a side-story), I doubt we'll be getting the missing genders in 6.0. They'll likely say "we're aware" and that'll be the end of it until the Fan Fest teasing 7.0.
Dig into the depths of all the big XIV content creators. That's where I heard about that. I don't remember which one though. ;-;Can you link me this interview? or give me a specific date? 2013 was when ARR came out and considering it was a success after a massive failure, there's most likely many interviews for FFXIV that year.

Nah Nestaman, it's 6.0 or bust. This game might last a long time but not like world of warcraft long. The spaghetti code, the engine limitations, competition; everything's gonna add up. I can see them waning down the game around 10.0-11.0. Adding the missing genders in 7.0 only gives them 3 playable expansions left, it's too far into the game's lifecycle.Unless they do something like they did with Yugiri or Fran (either throwing one into the MSQ, or added at the end of a side-story), I doubt we'll be getting the missing genders in 6.0. But this is how I feel personally, and based on the mmo market, game lifecycles, etc. After 6.0 I don't wouldn't care, for that just leave it as it is. Being really honest about that. But this is a good question to ask the rest of you; would you still wait 2 more years for male viera/female hrothgar?
I remember this quote and it always annoyed me. Rabbit-like creatures must be sexualized and therefor must be female? I mean personally I don't see male hares as "weird" so much as "thing that exists".
I had considered not getting ShB as many decisions left me underwhelmed and male Viera had been the tipping point. Of course, once Dancer gameplay came out I loved it and my hype returned. Obviously, I got the expansion and changed to f!Viera, given that the 5.0 story and raids have been a high point for me, I don't regret it.But this is how I feel personally, and based on the mmo market, game lifecycles, etc. After 6.0 I don't wouldn't care, for that just leave it as it is. Point being, it depends on what 6.0 brings. If the MSQ promises to be as good as 5.0, the zones look interesting, the new jobs look promising, we get some hair and hat updates for Viera/Hroth, and the gameplay changes fix broken systems? Sure I'll tolerate no male Viera/female Hrothgar for 2 more years.
At least we KNOW the dev team is aware of the desire for the missing genders, and are open to implementing them if the resources allow.
That unfortunately doesn't narrow things down. I'd still be on a wild hunt and Googling just gets me recent results, even when I specify 2013. It's still hearsay at this point and that's unreliable information (remember playing Telephone as kids?).
I mean, FFXI is still around and still P2P, so who knows (and didn't WoW come out with a new race or two somewhat recently)? Anyway, if I can wait however long for a beast race to be playable (Hrothgar, in this case) then I'm sure people can handle waiting a little extra longer for the missing genders.Nah Nestaman, it's 6.0 or bust. Hell, if Hrothgar weren't ever announced back in Fan Fest (or "leaked" via in-game French client bugs) and we were just going to get Viera, I'd still be playing FFXIV. I'd be massively disappointed because I still do not see the appeal of Viera (and never will. They're just humans with no-physic rabbit ears to me), but I wouldn't quit over not getting something I've been wanting since before HW came out. I'd quit over the game no longer being fun AND friends no longer playing/raiding.
