To me Roegadyn are super beastly and a lot more heroic than Hrothgar. Hrothgar look silly, like a Roegadyn with a cat mask on who forgot to do legs day at the gym.


As for the females, we have no clue what female Hrothgar would look like.

I'm honestly kind of bummed with the Hrothgar. If anything, I feel like maybe they should have based them more on the FEMALE Roegadyn's body type (minus the lady-parts), or even a larger, modified version of the Highlander. Roegadyn are just SO top-heavy; they're a cool enough race, but they come across more as big teddy-bears than dangerous athletes. The Hrothgar feel even closer to the "cutesy, cuddly stuffed-animal" vibe, and their proportions just feel WAY off.

Like... their torso and arms are just way too large. If they could've slimmed them up, keeping proportions more in line with their legs, I think it could've worked. Although I also feel like their feet are unusually small?

I honestly just feel like having these "tall, muscular bunny-boys" is going to both look ridiculous, and also feel very same-y to the Miqo'te and Au Ra.

I feel the sameyness of hyur, miqo, aura and viera girls, but I am not generally bothered by sameyness. It is what it is for reason.

+ I'm fujoshi trash so I'd only welcome more guyra and miqo boy sort of goodness in my life. But like at this point, if smol bun boys make their unlikely breakthrough, my chaotic good brain's gonna go nuts like, "you made it you bstards xD"

As I mentioned in another thread, I'd like to get something similar to Feol. We have females who can be tall and bulky or short and cute, but for some reason we have only tall or bulky males (and potatoes, of course). We do not have a male race with a slender, androgynous body. If you want to play a big bear (or lion), you can pick Roegadyn or Hrothgar, if you want a tall elegant guy, you can play as Elezen, if you want a big and strong badass, you can choose AuRa, and if you want a male with more masculine or feminine face on well-built body, you can choose Hyur or Miqo'te. But you have literally no option, if you want an androgynous character. I'm not going to change my character's race or gender (at least for now), but it's always better to have more opportunities. That's why I'd welcome male Vieras who are shorter and more delicate than their strong 'Amazonian' women.

But it's just my opinion. Tbh I would be happy enough even if they added strong and bestial Viera males. I just want to have a gender choice for all races in the game, because when I create a new character, I always feel like I'm playing a cheap f2p MMORPG with gender lock. I've always thought that SE would never do something like this and now I'm more worried about their finances than ever. I just do not trust them as I did in the past. I still love the game and love it dearly, but have a bad feeling that something is off there. I understand they had to rush with Viera and Hrothgar, but still hope we will get missing genders with the new expansion.

Whatever was wrong with this idea for male Viera? They look neat in this concept art. I never really wanted Viera to begin with because people shouting "lore bla bla, cool race bla bla" when really it's just miqo'te 2.0 another sexy cute race for men to drool over and play as. My only hope in them coming as a race was "well, at least male Viera might be neat looking".... And then they are in the concept art, but we don't get em. Hrothgar... Tbh, they feel too slouched and seem like furry Roegadyn still to me. I really feel they shouldn't have jammed 2 races into one expansion but meh... I wouldn't mind them adding female Hrothgar as balance and actually making them cool looking instead of another "waifu race". Really tired of 90% of the population being nothing but waifus when I walk around.

You could have a point, but I doubt they would be blind enough to not see how much people wanted male Vieras. So if they just went with 'Nevermind, everyone will just play another super sexy waifu girl anyway', they just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't get this idea that we need to make the only other demi-mamillian/human race male Miqo'te 2.0 (physically/forget the face).
Also, Viera is an existing race, not a brand new race where they should take liberties to fit a quotas, that's what Au ra and Hrothgar were for. Yoshida explained how Viera was a fanservice race so he added it for the fans; not something brand new.

Want something skinny with boy-band face? You have that choice already




Male Viera are jungle assassins. That official art sketch is the perfect illustration of that. Currently there's no strong tall male who fits that superhero look. The closest is male Au ra but....

The first male viera is pretty much exactly what I want. (height compared to the female next to him and all.)
(ok, though unfortunately since the females don't have the cool monster feet I don't think the males should have them either, but DO give them high heels in their starting armor 'cause dudes in heels is awesome)

I disagree, long heels are female feetwear (yes, a lot of medieval europe male royals were butterflies that's why they wore it). I don't know why people are trying to feminize male Viera, it's such an out of bounds agenda that's going on with no apparent reason.

At this point I think it's clear that for better or worse SE cares not for gender norms.
