Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

Just from personal experience Hrothgar are very rare. They only seem somewhat popular in packed cities because they stick out among all the humans. Crunch the data over a month from all the dungeons/raids you've played daily and you'll notice how few Hrothgars you'll encounter. Mind you this is true of Roegadyn and Elezen as well; Hrothgar is somewhere near the least popular.

I also recall something about Yoshida telling the dev team to not bother making separate hair styles for Hrothgar; he made that decision for them himself. I'm guessing he made that decision based on how little time they had before the expansion. As we all know they were still having trouble with them in the japan fanfest in March and their faces went through another change around May. They bit off more than they could chew trying to make an animal race.

More often than not, when I'm actually playing as one, I'm usually the only one in any piece of content, including 8 man raids and 24 man ones. In Limsa I'm probably one of only two in the entire place. They are very rare, but I do think that their truly limited status is why. Once they get some more love I might switch back, but for now I switched back to trusty Au Ra.

But we never had a Playable Beast Race. Which is the point of the Hrothgar's existence.
And I mean a REAL Beastrace, in case you try to come at me with the "Miquote/Catgirls are are a Beast Race" defense.
Why another Feline Race instead of something else? Because Feline Beast Races are popular.

I imagine Male Viera looking something like Ricardo Milos shape and base race clothing wise, save for the bandana. While facial features wise I can see them resembling their female counterparts in some ways, though mixed together with FFXIII Snow Viller's facial features and various hairstyles.

Hm, in fact. Snow Villers body wise as a whole would make for great use being redesigned for male Viera! Maybe, make the body just a tad bit leaner it'd be perfect!

I am really not sure why people should feel bad for being angry at SE decision? Au Ra also had both genders so of course its normal to assume that we will get both genders of the new race too. And when people asked them between the fanfests if we get male Vieras they never gave a truthful straight answer.

The amount of likes and the amount of pages this very thread has gotten shows how much people care. And yes even if we get them we would still complain about missing hair and hats because all the other races can wear them and if you even paid for hairstyles with real money you will be even less pleased with the situation. I am also not sure why we should be thankful? We are customers..we pay for a product and until now both genders of a race has been the basics..why should we be thankful if we get that basic finally into the game? I am thankful for those poor guys that took their spare time to give us more headgear options but I am not going to be utterly thankful when we finally might reach the basics for Viera and hopefully Hrothgar..

Nobody forced them to create two different races..people might have been a bit disappointed if their race was not added but would accept it with time or just sometimes talk about it. But with this solution you make both sides angry.

About numbers of Hrothgar players: I am not sure how accurate FF14 Census is but Hrothgar is the second least played male race right now, while female Viera is on the third place only loosing to the kittens and the Au Ra women. So saying that they are as popular or near as popular as Viera is just not true.

I think people confuse SE for Yoshi-P. SE is a company, and the only thing they care about is money. Whenever I or anyone else crioticizes SE, we arent critizing anyone in particular, just a company whose purpose is selling products, adn if we dotn enjoy said products, or would like to see changes made to them, we have the right and, in my opinion, the responsability of stating so

They confirmed we will (almost certainly) never get a new race for this particular game, and I'd rather them add the missing genders, fix female viera and male hrotgar and add more customization overall than a new race

Adding the missing* genders is the equivalent of adding a new race though.

His reply was about the other poster wanting Baanga. You know exactly what he meant.
As YoshiP himself said "It would be the last races but we can add the missing genders if we can figure out how to do so." He refers them as missing genders, not as adding a new race. The rationale being that he could tell Square Enix CEOs that he's adding missing genders, they'd ok that. What they will not ok is asking them if they can review adding a new race like Baanga or the rat people from IX.

It's a very specific distinction in terms of what can be added or not; missing genders yes, new race, no. I know you think Zeylos' every post is wrong it's actually correct.
