He was only the Prince until we liberated Doma so by lv68 he was King (reckless King given what he does but King nonetheless) still doesn't excuse that texture though surprised they let it get like that.

It's supposedly a joke but I consider it to be in poor taste given how often male characters in this game have been forced to draw the short straw.

One thing i have learned about Yoko Taro is never take him seriously in interviews, the only time(that i recall) he got even remotely non-trolly was regarding Emil's sexuality where he didn't want it to define his character completely (as in that is all people would associate with Emil) and that it should be treated as just a small thing that you go ok and move one(something i wish society would do at points). Yoko Taro does have a preference(women) but he understands that not everyone is into that and like to look at other things(men etc) so when he says he Hates good looking men, i take it from 'he doesn't swing that way' vibe, not a genuine i hate any good looking man, but i also don't expect people to see it like that either Yoko Taro is an odd ball to say the least and Yoshi P absolutely knew going in with this idea what sort of consequences might be involved and given Yoshi P didn't stop the 'hate' i'd imagine it was all meant to be a joke but people are free to interpret what he said however they want.

When was it explicitly stated male viera were going to be added later on? As far as I'm aware, Yoshi P didn't confirm or deny male viera's implementation yet.

I don't want to go back in time, and check everything I have watched, I am sure he did say that, but my memory can be wrong, and I don't have time to prove it on paper or to link it. I am sure myself they answered this question sometime ago - and it was as I said before.

Beside as You know, He did also said, that this was rushed thing, and could not be in the final version, and as You can see, everything is rushed, no hair from moogstation, no animated ears, etc, so ofc, they didn't put male yet, at least but not last because of that.

Like I said, I am 100% sure what I said, what I heard from him speaking ( it was after first big Moan from people on forums, about male, and it was addreses in one letter ) TDLR Soon TM - no one knows when, but it will be in Eorzea, like other Races M/F

Uhmmm, they didn't say "yes" as far as I remember. They said "maybe one day you will see them", which is another story.

When it's about such things that are quite costly to implement, with calming down the demand (doesn't matter here if it's from big amount of people or small) company can just think "ah they forgot, cool, let's move on".

Adding to this, remember it's a Japanese company and developers, including Yoshida, are Japanese and have Japanese mindset. As much as they are focused on abroad community, everytime they are vague about something, be very sceptic, because there is a chance it's a hidden "no", which is a thing in their culture.

I'm still not convinced that it's as difficult as they claim it is. They've been dealing with the issue of coding for quite some time and have managed to get around a great many issues. I'd say it's more that there's a sense of subtle disdain and dismissal on behalf of the development team where male characters are concerned. It doesn't help that one of their guests was openly lashing out at the idea of good looking men in a recent interview. (Yet mysteriously promoting 'waifu' characters at the same time).

I'd also point to things such as Hien's outfit. I won't say it's terrible but it has obvious texture issues and is a blatant adjustment of an existing asset. Lyse and Yotsuyu had much more effort put into making their attire look good and smooth - despite both playing less of a role overall in Stormblood than the Prince of Doma.

I fully agree with you here. We had enough issues in the game were they said that something was not possible and if enough rage happened it suddenly was. Best example is the housing situation. After Shirogane savage people were so angry that suddenly it was quite possible to give us more wards. (I think they even doubled the amount?)

The same with not giving us more free retainers but strangely if you pay them more money through the app you can have the option of buying another retainer...so would the game explode if everyone would use that option?

Yeah, there's other situations where they've said that there's coding issues to get around as well. I remember when people were asking for chocobo companions to be adjusted and made more user friendly. It took time, but the development team managed to get around the coding problems and make it into a reality.

At this point I don't really buy that the code is so fragile because they've done some very bold things lately such as allowing players to visit other servers directly. I think if they really wanted to they'd find a solution to the difficulties that they face with character customisation as well.

I have a high suspicion it has something to do with their inability to make more options for races (meaning here muscles/tales/ears and such). There is a possibility that they still have some 1.0 specters in the code which stop them from adding everything they want.

Personally I think its less a difficulty thing and more a "Is it worth the effort/cost?" thing. Outside of people asking for scars/beards every now and then, the bulk of customization questions at Q&As revolve around hairstyles (Can we have long hair? Can we have curly hair? Can we have Lyse's hair?), something that doesn't really need any coding changes and allows them to keep on their current pipeline.

While people can go circles around what the missing genders would look like, the desire for them has been enough to get a statement. The same can be said of the housing wards- player feedback was loud and clear and we quickly got the extra wards.

Those that want more customization in the creator need to squeak loud, frequent, and in unison to be more likely to get grease.

Yeah, they probably can do it if they really wanted to, but they don't think it's a priority, of any kind. I could probably see them coming out with the missing genders before ever editing, or adding to the current races, aside from hairstyles. If I remember correctly, Yoshida wasn't even, apparently, aware people even wanted the stubble, these kind of things don't even reach his desk probably. It's obvious they have a strict schedule that they don't really move away from. Their releases are formulaic to a fault. To them stubble isn't worth delaying this patch scheduling. If something like this does get done it would get done SLOWLY.
