I don't believe this. Like I said in my post, if we remove gender roles. Cut a girl's and boy's hair the same length, dress them in the same clothes, and people will have trouble distinguishing them. It's not uncommon for a boy with long hair to be mistaken as a girl, or a girl with short hair to be mistaken for a boy - this is in reference to gender roles.
