In general lore should not be even used to say if they come or not because no matter what happens in the story (even on the source) you would still need a reason for people being male Viera at the very start of the game. This is why for me the Yugiri situation was so strange..there we have a Au Ra woman who hides because she fears that people will attack her for it and yet we could play an Au Ra after their introduction from the very start of the story without anyone caring. It really should not matter at all, especially since the WoL is special anyways.
I agree that lore restrictions are typically not the greatest, but in the case of Male Viera, it was a partial reason why we dont have them as a race. It was also a big part of the argument against having SE implement them at a later date when this thread was a lot more active. I get there may be some 'retconning' for MSQ purposes, like having AuRa at the start of the MSQ, but the implications of not seeing them on the first with the MSQ as a whole is a pretty big lore problem no matter how you cut it.
