I agree so much with this. Imo the smartest thing would just have been to release Hrotghar this expansion and Viera (even though I would rather see Pixies) next expansion due to popular demand. It was not only females who had a lack of more burly looking races, men pretty much only have Roegadyn as well. Hrotghar would have covered more uncovered ground for both men and women.
whatever the reason it is their game no one have the right to force them to do this and that. you can suggest yes but it is up to them to add it or not. if you really want make them do this and that go make your own game and put everything you like into it . people did ask for gears gender and today for race gender . tomorrow they going to ask for mobs/npc gender as well??

It was less “let’s make a burly man and a sexy woman” and more “we were going to make a full hrothgar race for both genders but we saw how popular viera are but don’t have the resources to produce 2 full races so let’s just replace female hrothgar with female viera”. No matter what, people were going to be upset. If they didn’t have viera as a playable race after teasing us with Fran I guarantee there would have been angry threads in this forum. They just thought that this would be the safest route. And yet instead of choosing male Viera and buff Hrothgar females they choose to go the common way of fanservice female Viera and beastly male only Hrothgar as the first and only beastial race. There is a trope for this and they filled it perfectly. That has nothing to do with some RL Agenda.
Its a ressource problem yes, but it was still their decision on what to do with the ressources they had. And instead of doing something else (like getting the first female beast race out) they decided to stick to the trope of beastly men and beautiful, sexy women.
And in other interviews he stated that after introducing Fran they saw how well liked beastial races were thus they thought about introducing one. Honestly their reasonings are changing a lot through different interviews. Vieras were already on the table with Heavensward, we even got artwork of them. They had a bigger role in a raid before the new expansion...so I really doubt that Hrothgar came first and Viera was after that. Because if they already had the Hrothgar race planned, why were they not introduced in the expansion before their release? Why give the Vieras a whole region on the first and let us visit it, while most Hrothgar are just side characters in the story? Why were the Viera shown first and nothing was told about Hrothgar until the last fanfest? It was less “let’s make a burly man and a sexy woman” and more “we were going to make a full hrothgar race for both genders but we saw how popular viera are but don’t have the resources to produce 2 full races so let’s just replace female hrothgar with female viera”. There are interviews were they said that Hrothgar came first, but they are also others who stated the opposite.
In the end one complete race (no matter which of the two) would have been much better. One race to introduce us to, one race to write lore for. One race that can be introduced to us so that they not just suddenly pop up. Instead they divided their power, which in turn made it bad for both imo.
(Also it was still burly man and sexy woman, because they still could have choosen male Viera and female Hrothgar and keep Fran as a possible teaser for the missing female Viera)
So on one side people should not put their personal view in this (which is hard in a discussion because we are all shaped by our personal experience and likes) but at the same time these races are introduced because they appeal to certain people? Isnt that kinda the same? In my personal view I like tall and slender men, so if SE introduce them because more people like them, isnt that serving to my own personal view?Viera to appeal to people who like tall women, (Female Elezen Players) Hrothgar to appeal to people who like big buff men (Male Roe Players)
This is also what I mean by personal agenda btw, stop pushing your personal view when they had to make two aspects of the community happy with more race options. It's not fanservice, it's not using a trope, it's *how do we make people who want Viera happy, and give something to the people who may want bigger body types*
Viera is fanservice. They introduced that race to us by using a well liked character from another game and even though they have their own lore and their own lifestyle they also wear what Fran wears as racial gear..something which imo makes no sense to wear in the forest and that makes them look like sexy tall women.
(Tropes are anywhere btw and are not necessarily bad.)
So Midlanders and Miqote are feminine to you? The two builds that are mostly just average males? Many men around the world will probably groan if they read that just because they are average in height and not bulky they are suddenly feminine. Elezen is tall and slender but their faces are far from feminine either. Lalafells are in their own category.Lalafell, miqo'te, au ra, midlanders, and elezen are all races where the males are / can be more feminine. Stop trying to act like there's some over abundance of burly men in this game. There's Highlander, Roegadyn, and now Hrothgar. That's 3 burly versus 5 feminine options. Womp womp for your argument.
So we have now two really bulky men, three taller races which varying muscle mass, two average builds and one Lalafell.

Miqotes looks like teen kpop singers. So yeah, pretty femenine. And in other interviews he stated that after introducing Fran they saw how well liked beastial races were thus they thought about introducing one. Face =/= bodyshape
Therefore
Kpop singer face =/= feminine bodyshape
As long as there's 1 "young" or "Boyish" face then that part is settled.
The bodyshape/model is a different ballpark.
Or is every average joe suddenly a kpop singer all of a sudden? Cause I want those millions of dollars if so.

I don't know what country you're from, but in Europe, men don't usually have that physiognomy in general. They look like rickety teenagers, for God's sake.

to be fair if they were not gonna do veira fran would not have shown up since basically said
"we are planning veira so its ok to put fran in raid"
so would not really be any sneak peek to it
Some people have said it's a lore thing and that's why they aren't in the game.
So on the one hand, I agree wholeheartedly that it's non-inclusive. On the other, though, if it's the lore, and if male Viera aren't available for that reason, how would they introduce it? I seriously doubt this was intentionally exclusive, but that doesn't make it any less so. In other words, from what I've been told, there's a reason it's gender locked. I just don't know what that reason is.
Disclaimer: Please don't attack. Seriously. I'm new to this game and its lore and I'm truly trying to understand why it wasn't made available. From what I gather, the male Viera are extremely rare or some such thing.. or they don't come out and fight... or something.
