Because there's hundreds of thousands of people who play the game and nowhere near all of them are on the forums.

1300 compared to say 100000 is indeed a few.

This is the most voted thread in the forum ever made, not even the bow mage issue were this sought after.

If you took even a bit of your time to went through some of the posts, even just a little bit, not only you'd find all the answers you need but you would've noticed how many are making an account to join to fray.

So, the official forums behaving as rappresentative slice shows well that it's not a vocal minority at all. The people against this requests made a thread and a poll, they even reached 100. Here we are at 1300+, 2500+ in the poll and there's even a Japanese thread dedicated to this. I let you make the calculation of what this % means.

I mean yeah, it's kind of the first thing you encounter in the game, and is what the final fantasy series prides itself on. Good first impressions are really important. ie: me and a bunch of my friends passed over 1.0 because of the genderlocks, and played ARR because they removed them.

Amount of times people bring up genderlocks in 1.0, you'd think that wasn't the last thing that was wrong with the game. Most people who played 1.0 came from XI and thus did not care. Instead problems came from performing like garbage, playing like garbage, and just being poorly designed as a whole which are reflections of gameplay rather than aesthetics almost as if gameplay is something that rightfully should be put over aesthetics.

Saying the forums, Twitter, Reddit, whatever is a vocal minority is a statement of fact considering shockingly only a minority of people are on those mediums.

You can say that incorrect thing you said, but without actual numbers it's immaterial.

Vocal minority is always used as an argument to shut people down and belittle their opinions. Not everyone who wants male Viera is sitting here on the forums screaming, many of them silently just left. My entire friend group is incredibly disappointed and many haven't logged in since, but not a single one of them have posted on the forums or upvoted this thread. How many more people have done this? I've seen in many discords some people say "aw no male bunnies" to get absolutely reamed by others saying "HAHA NO ONE CARES ABOUT MALE BUNNIES! YOU'RE SO STUPID! BASED SE FOR STANDING UP TO THE SJWS". No wonder that a lot of people just want to stay silent even though they are disappointed and/or hurt.

To say that this whole situation is irrelevant and everyone who isn't stalking the forums 24/7 agree with genderlock is very small minded.

While it might be true that this request is that of a minority, but the fact that this thread has exploded with more responses than that of the 1.0 thread in a shorter amount of time speaks volumes.

And regardless if this is only a small segment or not the team can easily look at the threads statistics and compare that to the overall game population and make their extrapolations from there.

While it does not interest me directly as I will always be Elezen, there are enough friends and fellow FC members that want to play Male Viera that I would fully support this change. I am a big fan of choice and having Male and Female Viera is a good choice in my opinion.
