I'd argue that they would only be 'weird' if they were designed to be weird. I thought that this design looked pretty cool:



If the development team aren't going to give us the missing genders, then I hope that they'll give us enhanced customisation for the existing playable races. If they're not going to do that, either...then I'd find that to be rather baffling in terms of decision making since both features have been very common requests over the years.

I'd rather just have a proper human race, than a bunny boy. The ears just look dumb on males, like sorry, but they do. On top of the 'limited race' thing. They wouldn't be able to use helmets, or hats.

I don't really like animal features on any of the races, though. I can handle horns and scales, I don't mind that. I'd rather play a proper human or elf race, preferably elf, in general. A Hilda halfbreed (hyur/elezen) would be a dream.

Ordinarily I'd agree and I'm more in favour of playable races having their own unique starting areas like in World of Warcraft but that isn't the case with FFXIV.

Also Male Miqotes are not isolated from the world compared to Male Viera.

It's true that they're not isolated from the world, except the moon cats which are.

But they are supposed to be remarkably rare, like to the point that there's only one male per miquote settlement. Compare that to the idea of the viera where the males live outside the villages, but aren't as rare within their race. But if we're going to isolated, all viera, even the females, are supposed to be isolated living only in the wood within their lore. Yet we have the option to play as a female who left the wood. So in many ways, we can basically say that the lore doesn't apply to us.

Unless you're a male highalnder... then you're forced to abide by the lore that Ala Mhigan men shave their eyebrows

just a matter of taste i guess. i think they look awesome! but understandable, i also don’t like some races because they went with a physique/particular look. still curious tho - why do you think that bunny ears look so „dumb“ on males but not females?

Yes, i also think if they ever get implemented, that concept art is the closest to their final look.

It just looks plain dumb, mainly. It's also effeminate, and I cannot take characters like that seriously. Like G'raha Tia twitching his ears, it's very distracting in serious moments. People should be able to play what they want and like what they want don't get me wrong, but it's not for me. Male viera could look very masculine, no stupid tail, and the ears would still ruin the look for me. There's a reason I favor au ra, even au ra males. Horns work for males, and can look 'cool'. Fluffy ears don't, they are "cute".

Female viera look good. Pretty much that simple. It's a combination of traits, they are tall, athletic, and have no tail. If they were cutesy like miqo'te I wouldn't like them as much. It seems I still switch to miqo'te quite often, but if you see me switch to them, it's simple, miqo'te are easier to glamour, and create glamour than au ra, and I like their hempen top.

are lore arguments still happening? There is no defense of 'because lore.' If your defense is lore, then WITHIN said lore there is ONE! not millions, just ONE! Warrior of Light. You don't get to pick and choose which rules of the lore you get to follow. There is only one Warrior of Light IN THE LORE. So if thats your defense, that male viera are rare, there you go, there will only be one, because the PC is the only WoL in the game. I don't even need to bother with the Roegadyn and mi'qote defense, tho they are also excellent points as well to even FURTHER the argument that male viera and female hrothgar should definitely be in the game.
