Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

Disclaimer: I never play males so male Viera means nothing to me.

That said isn't the "lore" reason for Viera the same as the one for miqo'te? The one that was ignored to allow the players to play males anyway? The way I see it, the Galka had some reincarnation thing going on right? They die, they come back. They have no need for females(or males for that matter) because they didn't really need to reproduce. In lore and in game female Galka didn't exist. On the other had in lore Mithra/Miqo'te did have males you just couldn't play them(1.0 for Miqo). If the Viera were like the Asari, as in they legit had no males at all, I could understand it somewhat I guess. The Asari had to use other races to mate after all. In lore no "male" Asari exists. Male Viera do exist though but are "rare"(the same thing said before about male Miqo). Never mind the player is the exception to most rules anyway(90% of the class quests as well as the only champion of hydelan) so why is players being male Viera any different then male Miqo?

None of this matters if they add the other genders later on and lacked the time/funds to do so now though. It isn't like I want them to drop everything even if Id love to play a female Hrothgar, as I tend to like more beastlike races with female Roe style bodies.

Still, I support male Viera being added even if i would never make one.

Reading between the lines, some of what is being requested is also legitimately creepy - and some of the visual examples of fan art only serve to solidify that view in my mind.

No offense, but this is much more of a you issue. To assume others are being "creepy" in regards to requesting smaller or cuter male Viera is entirely your perception that you are unfairly putting on people. There are equally, if not more, options for people who want buff and manly options, especially now with Hrothgar.

That being said, I'm an advocate for the type of male Viera that Yoshida has suggested.

We all got our preferences but wish for the same thing, unlocking genders. It doesnt matter whatever each of us wish, they simply cannot make everyone happy. They didnt manage with mHrothgar and fViera either.
This thread isnt only about male Viera, but unlocking genders.
So saying, just because if they wont be as your ideal image and them rather not being added, sounds rude to me as well. You are free to post fanart of Viera men, discuss it and support it as much you like, but you cant interfere how the artist or creator envisions them.

At no point have I suggested that everybody requesting such things is 'creepy'. I specifically stated that some of what was being proposed is easily considered to be creepy. Are you of the belief that nothing inappropriate has been posted or requested earlier on in the thread? Even though some of the more inappropriate posts and artwork have since been removed?

I don't believe the number of people requesting slim, very feminine/androgynous and child-like Viera men is actually all that high. It just so happens that the posters pushing for it are very vocal and persistent.

But regardless, I don't think anything proposed has been "creepy". Have some of the pictures been inappropriate in the context of this forum? Sure, but they were being posted largely as points of reference for body types and were not child-like at all.

Also, you're conflating small and cute with child-like. No one has requested they be "child-like", just "small and cute". Please do not assume people are asking for child WoLs.

I'd rather have them similar to the concept art as well but I'd be fine with anything they come up with really.

I think the child-like Viera Theodric is talking about is the concept art of the Viera children, which has been requested to be playable.

Even though I never plan on playing Viera (especially with Hrothgar being a thing), I would hope SE never make the males look like children. That's a big no thanks from me.

Along with the slim, elegant and handsome, "Elezen with rabbit ears" or something to that effect was part of the quote. Elezen aren't bulky, though they aren't exactly twigs either. I'd be okay with that, if they leave the long necks and smaller head proportions to them (the Elezen), and possibly a more V shaped torso, but not to the extent of Au Ra (still <3 male Au Ra). Either way, whatever they come up with will be fine, and maybe they'll have figured out the helmet thing by then. But yeah, concept art with three of them in a row is still a favourite of mine. Many fluffs!
