SE MAKE DANCER HEALER NOW AND GIVE US THIS INSTEAD.I'm sad for healers who wanted a new job to play with, but I personally want a new ranged DPS to be dual-wielding pistols. More meh, and some feh for good measure. I'll just have to be honest and say I don't get this one. The best thing about that reveal video was the music, not the dancing.
Anyway, I though I did the Sundrop and Moonlift dances well enough that no further dancing was needed. *am disappoint*
Agreed. Im still excited for the expansion but my two biggest things from a purely character stand point, were the hope of getting a new healer to play and a race with a bit more gender fluidity that wasn't just buff man and sexy woman. Instead I we got another DPS and gender locking that is about as stereotypical as you can get. I can think of some obvious ways I'll RP around it even if only out of pure spite at a company for telling me I can only be either or but I'm no less disappointed. Especially about the healer. I feel like charlie brown. 'I GOT A NEW TANK' 'I GOT A NEW DPS' '....I got a rock'.

I was hoping for a healer class but oh well. Physical ranged is my third favorite combat role after healer and caster, so I will take up dancer anyway.
I really wanted Dancer to be a healer because, the thought of a melee healer is something that no other healers can do. Throwing your weapons and healing the party though dances seems very unique and original, now my excitement with the male viera being dropped, has hit the pavement.
To be honest, Dancer being ranged makes sense. It's historically been very close in function to Bard (I didn't play XI so please no lectures if they're different there :P but from what I know they're not good primary healers). And trying to think of other potential physical ranged jobs is quite difficult compared to some other roles, and Dancer fits this perfectly.
That said, Dancer or not, I do sympathise with healer players that there's nothing new for them...ranged may have only had 2 slots to healers 3, but they are DPS all the same.
Well, I'm a Range DPS main, so this is great for me. Hmm.. Gaia, maybe just like Yugiri we can get a hints of a possible future Jobs. I wonder what possible Jobs for a hammer wielder.. Geomacer, or maybe Green mage?
Not getting a new healer is beyond disappointing. There are an equal number of party slots for tanks and healers in all content except 24 man raids where more healers than tanks are needed. We already have an abundance of dps jobs, 4 melee and 5 ranged. This decision makes no sense whatsoever.
On the bright side, looking forward to the healer achievement mounts needed to fix the imbalance.

You do know that DPS (damage per second) is meaningless in a turn based game? The trinity wasn't really a thing until mmos. Dancers in FF5 and FF6 are what you might call controllers but damage was a major part too.Dancer has -never- been a dps role.
In After Years (if we really want to call Dance and Jive commands 'dancer') it was a random white magic spell on you or a random debuff on the enemy.
In 5 it was a support debuffer.
In 6 it was a support action set.
In 10.2 it was a debuffer.
In 12.RW it was group heals and enemy debuffs.
In Tactics it was a support debuffer.
In Tactics.A2 it was a support debuffer.
In dimensions it was a support debuffer.
In 11 it was a support class that used fast 1handers to power group heals (waltzes), group buffs (sambas), and debuffs (steps and flourishes).

Well Dancer was a buffer/debuffer job akin to Bard so this isn't that surprising. It wasn't until FFXI made it a dps healer.
Yea, he spent a lot of time talking about the hammer and elements I thought for sure he was about to drop Geomancer.
