Pretty sure Lalas have pointed ears as well, so Elezen don't exactly have a monopoly on them.

More seriously, pointed ears tend to be associated with faerie-like mystical entities in a lot of works, even if they aren't strictly related to Tolkien-archetype elves; the Four Lords are both deeply tied to nature and very mystical in style and design, so the pointed ears are likely to be used as a general aesthetic indicator of such rather than explicitly basing them off Elezen. Not to mention that pointed ears is the only common factor all of them share with Elezen - Byakko's stature is much more in line with Highlander Hyur than the lithe Elezen, while Genbu looks like the lovechild of Yoda and Ghido from FFV.
