    New Player Looking For Help

    Hi all,

I have been playing this for all of two weeks and I started of in Limsa (Bad idea cause there was like 5 people there) and then I went to Ul'dah and realized all of the people were just hiding from me.

Basically I have no real idea of what to do in this game and any help I can get would be appreciated (I am a quick learner btw)

I am apart of no LS, I have no idea how the crafting classes work and I just want some people to talk to to be honest :P

I am from New Zealand so my timezone is +12 GMT and I am a college student so I have some free time and flexible hours.

You're in a tricky time-zone for sure, so I won't likely catch you much in-game. I'll be glad to offer help though

I'd recommend doing Guildleves to begin your crafting journey, they are great for learning / experimenting without worrying about sacrificing materials. If you fail a leve, you'll lose out on time spent and that's it. Leves provide materials for you, or travel to the desired NPC, and they will give you the key item materials needed.

Really basic summary of how to craft:
Know the recipe (you can discover recipes via doing guildleves, or search the Lodestone/fansites)
Add the base materials from your inventory (using Synthesis option when a tool is equipped)
Shards and crystals are automatically used.
Proceed with Standard synthesis for highest chance to succeed and the progress bar will go up.

Standard Synth (highest chance to succeed, avg progression and quality increase)
Careful Syth (large durability on fail, high quality increase)
Rapid Synth (large durability loss on fail, highest progression)
Wait (small durability loss, but stabilizes your synth. Helps if you want White status, or have gone unstable)

The colours and sparking/instability (in order of highest to lowest success rate)
White is what you hope for most often when leveling
Yellow (higher yield of Careful Syth, good for HQ)
Red (higher yield of rapid Synth, good for making items quickly)
    Flashing (random chance!)

If an item grows chaotic or is unstable, try Waiting, or push through it with Standard Synthing. Be warned durability drops FAST during a chaotic status.
Don't spam Wait, each consecutive use increases the durability loss by a factor of 2.

I'm sure I missed a couple things, but I'm not a heavy crafter.

Oh wow. Thank you so much for actually taking the time to reply.

This crafting information is really helpful and I now know a lot more than I did before.

I know I have seen you around Ul'dah a few times but I hope to see more friendly faces as well.

    Cheers for your time

If you see me around then feel free to say hi. If I'm not in Ul'dah then I'm probably running around the outside on my chocobo just harrassing marmots and coblyns. And by harrassing I mean running around them in cirlces. Probably gonna try and fight Ifrit on my own because I'm crazy.

You won't be able to take him on alone, the first fight has a requirement of a party of 4, and a party of 8 for Hard Mode (the Ifrit weapons)

Yeah, I just noticed. I was pumping myself up for it too ><

This game continuously stifles my need to be crazy! I guess this is another quest I won't be able to do since it requires a party.
