Give me a reason for alts...

No, I mean it. I don't want why I shouldn't bother with alt characters, I want reasons as to why I should make alts, (I'm a altoholic on other games) no matter how superficial!

Yes I'm trying to level everything on my main... and yet I still want to make other characters...

You could make alts to see other server's communities, to roleplay out a certain character and their own story, to relive the story for fun (but that might be kind of phased out with the "New Game +" being brought in. I'm sure someone else could throw out a couple more at least that I've over looked, but those are to name some.

I mean, it saves on fantasia costs? :P Honestly this is a game where you kinda need to put your own reason behind why you want an alt. With a few exceptions, like crafting specializations, almost everything can be done on one character and thus the only real reason to make an alt is because you want to do so. If you find the experience pleasurable by all means go for it!

Can create different race/gender combos and try on market board gear without paying for a fantasia.

You can experience the story again reading any missed text bubbles or look at how things have been foreshadowed in hindsight.

Earn easy gil through leveling as well as have multiple retainers that can gather without paying for it.

Can have all crafters specialist with 3 characters

Can do multiple raids on releases to get gear and take the one that got good rng 1st in higher floors if struggling.

Gear looks different on other characters. Emotes look different. Running looks different. Fighting looks different. It's fun to play something different. Alts are also a good way to replay the story (the only way before the New Game Plus drops this summer) and there's always some subtle details you missed on any given quest the first time around.

Honestly, only real reason with some benefit would be crafting specializations. Other reasons might include stuff like, enjoying the story, and wanting to replay it. Remember that each starting city has little bit of their own flavor in them! Thats basically it, crafting and story revisits I guess.

You shouldn't, however, if we could have more benefits such as having the option to skip the story entirely as an alt - as long as we do it on our main - and have other benefits such as shared retainers emotes costumes and whatnot, sure I would do it myself...but I guess they really want us to spend those 25 bucks on story skip potions and 3 bucks a month for retainers alright!

TL;DR just keep your main or use a fantasia if you don't like your look. more convenient than spending 25+25 on a boost/skip

All of that. Some people legit like to give up their 70's across the board and mega millions to start fresh with a new community. And especially yes for RP.
