    The samurai level 54 quest

After reading the internet I found I wasn't the only one with problems on this one. I did manage to do it by kiting, using HQ max-potions and cooldowns, but it was tight. Harder than the level 60 quests, harder than Zenos fights in SB MSQ line.

I'm not demanding it to be toned down, but asking SE to not go much beyond that level of difficulty for class quests because there are noobs like me who want to get them done without banging our heads against them until we've perfected them like some people do ultimate content. I realize you can't cater to casuals too much but dont lock compulsory content behind way overtoned fights please.

Rats are fierce, intelligent, social, emotional, cuddly and have a sense of humor. That why it's an honor to carry the name of Rat.

Usually we find gear has played a big part in players having issues with job quests. If you have the highest possible gear for the level of the quest you are doing, things like potions shouldn't really be necessary to use (plus the long cooldown makes them restricting. Yes there is ilvl sync but even then gear can still make a big difference.

Thanks for a sensible reply. Did the quest again with my geared alt and didnt need a potion nor bloodbath. I guess it's the combination of gear and having learned to play the class

I can confirm, that duty is a total hell...

Gear can affect your battle. I also leave SAM job quest for a long time because I'm stuck there turns out I use level 50 gear which makes me hard to kill the monster.

For safety, you can bring potion for your HP and prepare Bloodbath.

SAM was my first job through SB and ... yeah ... hoo boy that was a doozy. I think I had to do that quest 5 times before I cleared it. Made liberal use of potions and role actions and had to think strategically about everything I was doing. It was actually a cool experience, it's just misplaced. Difficulty of that type shouldn't be in a quest, it should be in a raid.

Am I the only one who did not think the level 54 SAM quest was particularly hard?
Not the easiest battle in the game by any means, but not overly hard either.

The problem is, unlike most instances, you don't have a source of healing, and he deals a lot of unavoidable damage. You get a minor HoT from the WoL buff, but that doesn't outpace what he can do on a regular auto-attack.

So it's a very tight damage race even if you do all the mechanics perfectly.

I tried this multiple times at lvl 55/58 and kept getting creamed. This is with Bloodbath and Second wind (too proud for potions lol). In the end I actually waited until I was lvl 60 because it doesn't award a skill. I think what they were trying to do was force the use Third Eye which is heavily needed in the lvl 60 quest (uh spoiler I guess). I could get past everything but the last guy as 55/58 and it was still a little close as lvl 60. Because his attacks HURT. Using 3rd eye whenever its off CD helps a lot. Just remember to move. I pretty much just stay behind enemies whenever possible. I feel like a NIN more than a SAM but hey, whatever works.

I don't really recall having any trouble with any quests. I mean, it's been a while, might be failing to remember, but surely if it were so bad, it would've stuck out in my memory. Best I can think, assuming my brain isn't just making it up, is it's a quest I failed once and realized "Oh, can't just faceroll this."

Kinda curious what sort of gear folks are struggling with at that point as well. But I might be biased; at the time still had my Augmented Ironworks when I started SAM, which is kinda the best you'll have at that level.

I believe the answer for this issue has been established several times over on the forums and the bottom line is this... get the very best gear you have for this battle.

    Its makes all the difference.
