    Where the ROES at!?

I am Aeirou Orlay and I’m part of the initiative to bring back the Roes. We may have seen me wandering around Limsa Lominsa doing various things such as being idle, mending my armor, or sidesteppin’ on peeps.

I just want to know where dem Roes at? Why aren’t you a Roe!?

This message is brought to you by the Kitty Kat Club - “We’re everywhere you never knew you wanted a kitty to be!”

Announcer bleep: “I am A Lalafell and I approve this message.”

Well, they do exist, I can assure you of that, just most of them aren't interested in you because you're a girl. :v It must be hard being a f roe. Maybe find yourself a nice cat boy instead? They're a dime a dozen. Maybe one with Sauske hair?

This is my (currently archer) fem roe alt! Still need to level her, but I've had some fun on the blogging side of lodestone with her. Two other players jumped up with me after talking about the idea of a soft/gentle visual approach to roegadyns.

I don't main my roe for two reasons, these being because I love playing BLM and picked my main first. If I had to guess why they're not as big with other players though, I'd say it's probably because they offer certain design challenges and not everyone knows what to do with them.

Roes are bigger and more solid comparatively, with smaller eyes and often wider mouths. Big eyes will draw attention and create a more open, innocent, softer look. Mouth focus tends to come across as harder. With these things in combination lady roes often get interpreted as very tough or with a dark/somewhat goth approach to femininity, much less conventional. Male roes people tend to not know what to do with them a lot of the time, since they don't fit within conventional guy standards of attractiveness. Add needing to use hair and glamour to proportion roes to their best advantage and people are often left going ???

Basically they're a kind of fashion hard mode in a way haha, and I think most folks just don't know how to work the strengths of those features/body types according to the tone hey're going for. it's easier to make a tough looking roe than a tough looking miqo'te or female au ra. Therefore you'll more likely get people who want imposing or visually tough characters in roe. While i think there's value there too, I also figure that's a less popular aesthetic than dainty or cute.

Also people have mixed opinions on color schemes and the black noses stuff.

I’ll post a picture of my roe later, but I agree with your sentiment. I actually told a friend of mine that I think one of the reasons Fem Roes aren’t more common is when you’re in the creation screen, the female roe is very imposing and looks like she’s wearing drag. It’s not easy to make them into attract female characters. There’s a lot of armor styles that I outright avoid because the size of the roe makes the armor look strange, but I still find ways to make my her look both elegant and badass. I think most of the female roes we do see are alt characters.

In the Show your Roe thread. Also data center dependent it seems. Roegadames are near non existent on EU servers but in abundance in select NA.

Posted weird from my phone, but three images of my Roe. Sometimes she’s tough, and other times she just wants to enjoy the moment and relax.

I'm not on your server, but I saw this topic on the "new posts" page the other day and had to jump in with my very-not-tough Roe alt. They're rare characters of course, and the few I'd seen were all tough warrior types so I wanted to go the opposite way as far as I could!

"Fashion hard mode" indeed! (or possibly Savage.) A lot of things seem to sit quite awkwardly on them, even if they look nice on other races. It takes a lot of trying things on to find things that suit her - thank goodness for the "save outfit" button! (and also /gpose.)

I agree, the default characters for the two clans on the race selection screen don't do much to make the race look appealing. Partly it's the angle - that straight-on view isn't really flattering to any of the characters - but also just not a good choice of features. (Though I don't think I went that far off the default face design, in the end.)

Another minor thing that I think adds to the default character not looking right, is that all the female Sea Wolves have pink lipstick inbuilt as part of the character design - and it doesn't look right with a lot of their skin colour choices. I had to give my character green lipstick so she looked like she wasn't wearing any.

    Also....
